So... I'm not dead and I'm back and it's been over a year since I've last written anything at all. Well, I've been busy with both schoolwork, writing my own original stories and fan fictions alike and also heavily procrastinating.
Recently, I've gotten back into pokemon and watched WolfWalkers (great movie), and it made me remember my first ever TF story that I've written back when I was a bare teenager, when I first got into Pokemon and TFs and when I wrote my first ever work of fiction ever, a Pokemon TF story. Of course, on a reread it was kind of terrible but reading it let me be proud of how far I've come when it comes to my writing and so, I'd thought of rewriting my first ever TF story and my first ever fictional work as one.
The story is as usual in the description as well if you don't want to download it. It's SFW and I don't know if I want to make an NSFW version but I might but that's for later. The theme is M human to M Midnight Lycanroc. It's over 7000 words. Anyways, enjoy the story.
Moonlight shines down brightly on a clear night sky revealing a beautiful full moon in all its glory. The sound of nature rang throughout like a natural orchestra as the rustling of the leaves is joined by the various sounds of nocturnal pokemon life.
Wade cleaned his camera for the fifth time that night in the small, reinforced ditch he staked out himself for the last few days. It gave him a commanding view of the meadow he was to be watching for this very night minus that one annoying hill that blocks a certain part of it and as it is well camouflaged, he need not to worry about scaring off the more skittish wild pokemon or being attacked by the more aggressive ones as long as he
stayed silent and still.
‘And as a skilled pokemon photographer, I should be dandy’ The young black-haired man thought as he adjusted his bucket hat and turned his gaze towards the meadows ‘And what a spot too, not near enough any routes that trainers travel on with an abundant population of wild pokemon as well’
So far though, the photographer hasn’t caught anything too interesting.
Most of the pictures he’d taken since he first staked out in the location were similar to ones he taken in the past, not helped by the fact that Wade himself was alone, not having any partners whether human or pokemon in this trip.
Despite it, he was confident that this little endeavor of his would pay off bigtime “Whilst the meadow is far from the standard routes, there has been a few sightings of strange pokemon here” Muttered Wade under his breathe “Nothing confirmed but there should be something out here… maybe now that there’s a full moon…”
An eerie howl sounded in the background, sending chills down the human’s back.
Suddenly, the thought of not getting a pokemon or even hiring a trainer to protect him entered Wade’s mind and made a part of him cringe at his stupidity.
The bigger part of him ignored it, most pokemon out in these wilds aren’t aggressive and at most he just needs to bribe any pokemon that might be interested in him in wats both good and bad with some rare berries most likely.
A rustle sounded off in the meadows and the photographer immediately threw himself onto focus in its general direction.
Nothing, just the sound of the tall grass flowing in the cold night breeze.
Disappointment whirred in the photographer’s mind ‘Perhaps, this will be another dead end like the last wife’s tale I’ve heard’ Thought Wade as he let out a sigh and shook his head, still ready to waste the night if need be.
He looked up at the full moon shining above him with his black and brown eyes.
It was then and there that a small, visible light flashed in the distance.
Intrigued, the man turned his camera to the point but was miffed when he realized that the one hill in the meadow was blocking his view from whatever created the light in the first place.
Caution and curiosity raged in Wade’s heart, to go over the hill to get a clear picture is to leave his carefully crafted ditch and risk danger but…
Another brief flash of light occurred, and Wade made up his mind ‘You only live once’ Thought the photographer as he grabbed his backpack and camera ‘Make the most of it’ And threw himself out of the ditch into the meadow.
Wide careful steps and a natural repellent on him, the man made his way through the tall grass of the meadow and started to climb the arguably quite shallow hill.
It took him no time at all for Wade to get to the top of the hill and when he made it, he knew from then there that he made the right decision.
There, quite a distance from him and the top of the hill sat in the middle of a congregation of small hills surrounded by a light mist was a small lake with a small island in the middle of it all with various boulders and rocks on said hill.
And around the lake sat a congregation of over a hundred pokemon, of various species and typings as well. Wade could spot common pokemon such as Rattata, Mightyena, Swellow and Ledian to more uncommon pokemon such as Manectric, Houndoom, Aipom and even rare pokemon such as the Lycanrocs of both forms, various eeveelutions and the sole Milotic sat in the middle of it all.
While not rare, it not common to see multiple species of different pokemon working together on something and certainly not something like what Wade was witnessing.
The Milotic on center stage was using its mastery over the water type to create immaculate caricatures of different sights, objects and pokemon, all sparkling radiantly under the clear full moon as they spin around the lake at great speed. During all that, the Milotic was singing in a beautiful, serene voice that would draw any man or creature in as the various caricatures and shapes made of water weave together a story both told and seen in real time.
At certain points, lightning sparkled along the watery creations, so subtle that it was barely noticeable and with such control that it did not pop the fragile images, adding another layer of sparkles onto an already beautiful scene.
And in the end, as the song hit the highest note, the lightning grew more pronounced racing across the stage at the speed of light and then around the circle, the bubbles popped quickly in a swirl of water and electricity before a bolt of lightning shot down behind the Milotic as the water of the lake rose in great pillars ending the performance as the hidden electric types, a Plusle and Minun revealed themselves along with the previous Milotic and all three pokemon bowed.
With that, the surrounding pokemon all cheered, crying out in encouragement and criticism alike as the tender pokemon carried both the cheering pokemon pair with them as they left the island.
So caught up with it that Wade himself almost cheered as well but kept his mouth shut ‘What a view, a natural location for wild pokemon performances’ He thought ‘I wonder what prompted the wild pokemon to get together and do such a thing themselves, it does nothing for their survival except perhaps help them practice the control necessary for their moves?’
It was no use thinking about such thing was useless, Wade was a photographer, not a pokemon professor or such types, not when such beautiful sights were there for him to capture… moments like the last that he didn’t capture.
“Darn it!” The man muttured as he palmed his head “Skilled pokemon photographer my ass, I’ve forgot to get my camera out for the last one! Damn it!” He cursed himself ruthlessly but shook his head.
‘No, pay attention and learn from your mistakes, the next pair of pokemon are nearly up already’ Wade thought as a pair of Vulpixes entered the stage with the help of an Abra he hadn’t seen before, notably one of the pair was of the Alolan variety and both incredibly rare for the region he was currently in.
Without any more wait, the photographer took out his camera, cleaning it in reflex for the sixth time that night and was ready to take a picture.
All he could see through the lens was the color white.
For a single moment, he wondered if his camera was having a problem now of all times but then the white shifted a bit and swayed in the wind just like fur.
And then came the growling that send shivers down the photographer’s spine.
Looking back out, Wade found himself face to face with a pokemon.
Bipedal, a bit hunched while standing on digitigrade legs with paws featuring savage rocky claws, with similar ones adorning the surprisingly human arms and paws. The fur a crimson red dotted with hard rocks with a white underbelly, small canine tail and large mane spiked with rocky protrusions. The pokemon was built like a mixture of a canine and a human with well-toned muscles under the prevalent fur, yet certainly much more canine than human.
It was the head that drew Wade’s gaze, a canine head painted red and white with the mane resembling hair not unlike what one would find if they checked Wade’s highshool pictures topped with it sweeping forward to resemble a cresent moon shape with the very curved tip an obsidian black.
The pokemon’s head also sports rock pointed, black, button ears, a triangular nose on a long snout full of razor-sharp teeth and the red glowing eyes with black pupils staring directly through him at his soul.
Wade was proud to admit that he did not scream like a girl, fled or pee his pants at the sight of the Midnight form Lycanroc towering a head over him standing right in front of him… possibly because he was already rooted in fear and terror.
He didn’t know how long he spent staring wide eyed at the surprise encounter in front of him, but he knew it took the wolf pokemon to growl once more for him to finally act.
Acting quickly before he was pokemon food, the photographer held his arms up placatingly and backed off slowly and steadily “H-Hello there, I’m sorry for disturbing your or going into your territory” He quickly splurged out as he kept eye contact on the pokemon, not remembering whether prolonged eye contact with a Lycanroc would be prompted as a challenge or not.
The wolf pokemon however, didn’t seem impressed as it huffed and stared at him.
“Look, I’m not here to cause trouble or anything, I’m not here to catch or battle you or any of your packmates or friends” He explained slowly so the pokemon could understand “I’m just here to take pictures and such” The Lycanroc raised an eyebrow at that “Uh… it’s me capturing a moment in time in form of a static image”
Unfortunately, the pokemon just simply locked its arms and kept staring but at least it’s not trying to attack or Arceus forbid kill and eat him, so Wade took that as a win.
A puff of fire and ice appeared in the sky behind the Lycanroc at that moment “…Can I get past you and get s-” The pokemon growled in warning at that causing the photographer to flinch back a bit “Okay, okay I won’t try”
Tense silence follows as the wolf pokemon started to tap its paws on the ground, seemingly annoyed that he’s still here but at least it’s not attacking.
“How about a deal” Wade decided to try a final gambit and the words seem to at least get the Lycanroc’s attention “How about I give you some berries, maybe then you’ll let me past please?”
The pokemon kept giving him a deadpanned stare and Wade knew it didn’t work.
Dissapointed but knowing when to quit and not get maimed, the human raised his arms higher in surrender “Okay, I-I’ll just leave then, I promise not to go back and I won’t ever reveal this place to anyone else” Wade acquitted, unhappily.
In truth, he really wanted to come back but, the wild pokemon was showing him mercy and he had a feeling returning later, he wouldn’t receive a second chance.
At least the Lycanroc seemed happy with it as it nodded its head along.
Sighing, the human began to back up “Alright, I’ll get going now an-” Mid-sentence, Wade witnessed the wolf pokemon’s eyes widening as it went from relaxed to a battle stance and started rushing straight towards him at blinding speed, a speed that surpassed what a human could run at.
Bracing himself for his likely end, the photographer managed to get his arms out to shield his head and chest before the dangerous pokemon reached him, but it was unlikely to be enough as the Lycanroc was on him right away.
He felt a sting of pain as the wolf pokemon’s claw hit him on his right upper arm but was confused when it simply pushed him to the side as it ran past him.
A crack rang out behind him, and Wade managed to reorient himself fast enough to see the rock type blocking the scything blade of a Scyther with its right arm, the blade that would’ve hit him from behind and one sharp enough to draw blood from the Lycanroc’s rock reinforced hide and fur.
The bug type itself seemed shocked that the wolf pokemon would attack it but not enough to let it be hit with the Counter that the rock type swung down with its other arm, hitting and cracking the earth as the bug type leapt back a short distance. And then, the crack widened as it kept traveling, small rocky spikes jutting out of the ground as it quickly sped towards the retreating mantis pokemon before a gigantic stone spike hit the reptilian bug point blank with great speed, launching it back.
It landed on its feet, managing to block the stone spike of the Stone Edge with its scythe blades as it stared down the Lycanroc and Wade’s unlikely savior.
Both pokemon began a short exchange, one the human couldn’t understand at all but couldn’t help paying attention to as the likely argument got heated.
Eventually, the Lycanroc barked something that caused the bug type’s eyes to widen.
Wade winced as he looked down at his right arm, the sleeve of the jacket was shredded where the Lycanroc roughly grabbed and shoved him out of the way, the sharp claws of the rock type tearing the sleeve and flesh underneath causing a few small red lines to form as blood slowly flows out.
But comparing that to potentially getting impaled by the blade of a Scyther, the photographer would much rather be injured like so ten times out of ten.
Looking back, he could hear whatever the argument the two pokemon were having petering out as the Scyther scoffs and flew away with its wings, giving him a glare before it left.
Then, the Lycanroc turned to look at him as he slowly got up “…Thank you” Wade managed only to receive a roll of the Lycanroc’s blood red eyes “I mean it, I-I’ll go now but how about I repay you with some berries” He offered reaching into his bag.
The pokemon’s button ears perk up slightly at that but otherwise, it didn’t react much as Wade pulled out an assortment of different berries, he kept to mostly bribe the wild pokemon to let him pass or leave.
Seeing the berries, the Lycanroc’s eyes seem to light up as it hesitantly took one of the berries he held out, a spotted, yellow pear shaped Sitrus berry and took a bite.
‘Well, at lease these won’t go to waste’ Wade thought as he set the berries down as the wolf pokemon slowly savored the sweetness of the berry with a satisfied expression on its features, the one wound the pokemon received earlier on the right arm, one Wade noticed had stopped bleeding mid argument, closing fully without leaving a mark, the primary effect of such a berry.
He wished such berries had such speedy effects for humans.
It reminded him of his own minor wound and winced as he felt another flash of pain along a weird tingly sensation ‘I should definitely see a doctor once I return to civilization’ The photographer thought as he covered the wound with his one good hand and turned back towards where many pokemon cries were erupting ‘Shame I can’t capture the events of tonight but… I’d prefer living’
Another wince sounded from him as he felt the phantom pain spread and along it the sense of weirdness alongside the fact that his right sleeve seemed oddly tight, but Wade heed it no attention as the Lycanroc made a confused bark.
He turned to see it staring at him, particularly at his wound before its eyes widened “Oh this is nothing really” He reassured the pure rock type with a strained smile he forced on “Don’t worry about it, it’s a bit painful but it would’ve been worse if not for you, I’ll just bandage it and it will be dandy!”
The pokemon didn’t stop staring with those wide eyes and with the strange feeling around the area, the human man looked down and gasped “What in th-” He managed before he winced at the sudden pain.
Where the injury he received once was, was a large patch of what was crimson red fur that sprouted out of the already shredded part of the sleeve.
Not only that, but the man could also see the fur spread as feel his arm slowly bulge as the right sleeve of his jacket tightened and start to tear with help from the previous tear already as the transformation traveled down his arm.
Halfway down the forearm towards the hand, the fur turned white, and the man winced again as he felt the bones in his hand shift. Covered in white fur, Wade felt each digits widen, the nails popping off as the bones growing out form black rocky claws, pink tough yet fleshy paw pads forming below them as well as on the palm.
All of this happens in pain as the man saw his whole arm bulge out, the once thin arms now visibly well-toned with muscle with white and red fur escaping through notable tears on both the sleeve and the shirt underneath.
Then the weird feeling reached his face and the human saw in his vision as his nose pushed outwards, his straight nose turning black and triangular as it was pushed in front of a forming lupine snout. The pop and cracks of the skull changing pained the changing man as he closed his eyes but certainly not as much as he thought as his tongue lengthened in his new maw, briefly touching his changing, sharpening teeth.
Opening his eyes, they were now a pinkish red in color with a black slash of a pupil.
White and red fluff overtook the skin of his neck and face as his ears sharpened, traveling upwards to the top of his head, ripping his hat off of his head it as they lengthened upright into a more canine shape with a rocky tip before folding in half into button ears.
All the while, his hear lengthened, turning from a jet black to white as it formed into a rough mane of fur, sweeping forward over his changing head in a shape reminiscent of a crescent moon, the tip an obsidian black as the fur grow down his neck down towards his back.
Shocked, Wade brought his unchanged left hand up to feel around his head only to find out that it already changed to a fate similar to his right hand.
It was then that he felt a pressure on his back as the white fluffy fur of his mane grew against his jacket and undershirt all the while his once average male form bulked up some causing both his jacket and shirt to rip in multiple points, freeing the new white fur of his chest and the mane on his back.
It was then that the changing human tripped onto his ass as his feet started to change, the weird feeling taking over. He watched in pain as the front of his boots stretched before black rocky claws burst out of the soles, shredding his socks as well.
Then, his foot lengthened even further as his whole leg took over a more digitigrade structure as it bulked out, the thighs especially as they strained against his tightened pants and underwear. As his form bulked out along with the added fluff from his fur, he felt his belt pop free and his pants getting as shredded as his upper garments as a pressure formed at the base of his tailbone.
Kicking his destroyed boots off, the mostly wolf pokemon managed to pull the remains of his pants down as a small fluffy white tail, almost entirely composed of fluffy white fur burst out behind him, formed from his tailbone.
Still, he felt his clothing getting tighter and tighter as the transformation continues to bulk him out overall across his formerly thin body.
He could feel his internal organs shift, muscles change, nerves redirecting all with the minor pain to back it up and then he felt it all go to his head and brain, giving him a sharp headache as he bowled over, transformed hands clutching his head as weird sensations hit him from out of nowhere.
His sense of smell sharpened tremendously, he could smell his own scent, the ones of the other Lycanroc still there and of so much more in such a quick succession that it caused a sensory overload.
Not helped was the fact that his ears popped as they also become more sensitive as well and suddenly, the sound of the night was much clearer than ever before.
Closing his eyes in pain, the nearly complete Lycanroc let out a growl of pain, one with a voice that sounded like his old one but much wilder and more animalistic.
Instincts, ones belonging to a nocturnal rock type predator flooded his mind as he found himself thinking of things he never would’ve thought about before, about forming a pack, of being dominant, the heat of mating, to find a partner and many more such things as he opened his eyes and shot upright to stare at the moon.
Suddenly, everything lessened and slowed down as he looked at the light from the beautiful full moon, basking his changed form in radiance as he himself felt something deep down inside of him, an ancient instinct of his new form as the newly formed Lycanroc took a deep breathe before howling at the presence of the full moon’s glory.
It was a long howl, one that grew longer as more and more pokemon not even of the same species adding their own cries in the night as canine pokemon of all shapes and sizes howl as one to the full moon.
Eventually, the feeling left his body and Wade got the chance to pant away the exhaustion as he collapsed onto the ground.
The mind of the former human reeling in shock about what just happened to him.
Wade didn’t know how long he spent panting on the grass, but it felt like hours.
Eventually, he was snapped out of it by a voice, an oddly feminine one “…erm… are you alright?” He turned his head towards the other Lycanroc in the area, the one that injured and likely transformed him.
A part of his mind was angry at what just happened, at how it happened and all of it was pointed towards this one Lycanroc that caused this upon him
The larger part of him was just exhausted and wanted to black out “…No…” Was all he managed with as he gave the cause of all this a very annoyed expression.
For their part, the other Lycanroc looked away from him “O-Oh” They stammered nervously “…Sorry about… all of this, I, it’s an accident! I didn’t know that a scratch would be enough to turn you…” They admitted after a bit.
The angry part of his mind died down as he took multiple deep breathes to calm down, as he did, he instinctually sniffed the air and took in the other Lycanroc’s scent and somehow recognized it as feminine.
And immediately the deep ancient instinct to find a mate stirred within the transformed man’s mind and perhaps down below as well but with a shake of his head, the former human put the instinct to the back of his head ‘You’ve just turned into a fucking pokemon, get yourself together for Arceus’ sake’
He managed to calm down even as emotions boiled in his mind.
Still, the reality of it was ludicrous and so he looked back down at his changed hands.
He feels around his now very fluffy chest, the toned rocky muscles underneath that was probably average for a Lycanroc but no less impressive for any male human. His hands travel up his neck to feel around his new furred mane replacing his hair and the rocky protrusions coming from it, particularly at the side of his torso.
The face was next, it was fluffy as is every part of his body now. He felt around the new lupine snout taking apart of his vision and only then realized how big his hands had gotten post transformation ‘Honestly, I think I can grab the entirety of my previous human head with these now’ He thought as he absentmindedly licked his lips, feeling the sharper pointed teeth found in predators with his longer tongue.
Wade chuckled a bit as he thought about how absurd this whole situation is which may or may not cause concern to the other Lycanroc as she watched the transformed man “Are… Are you alright?” She repeated worried for his sanity.
“Am I alright?” Wade repeated before bowling over laughing, a barking haunting laugh at that “Oh of course I’m alright, I’m fine, it’s not like I suddenly and painfully turned into a literal pokemon! A thing that was supposed to be impossible” The Lycanroc ranted to the sky.
His eyes teared up as he looked at the cause of all this “It’s not like my dream is out of reach now or the fact that my family and friends won’t even recognize me anymore or the fact I can be caught in a fucking pokeball now!” He continued as his laughter turned into sobbing “No… I’m perfectly okay to be turned into a pokemon for life” The Lycanroc dropped to his knees.
The other Lycanroc watched him and cringed back as she rubbed the back of her mane “…I’m… sorry…” She managed as she looked at him with equal parts pity and apprehension aimed inwards “…There is well… a silver lining I should’ve mentioned”
“What?” Wade asked, annoyed.
“It isn’t permanent”
Silence filled the area only ruined by the cries of pokemon in the distance ‘Well tell me that before I cried my heart out in grief!’ The transformed human mentally shouted but outwards let out a huge sigh of relief “…Tell me everything… please”
“Okay, I owe you at least that much for all of… this” She agreed as she cleared her throat “So you know those stories where people turned into pokemon on a full moon and run wild and such?”
Wade nodded as he stood up, inching closer “You mean the old and modern werepokemon stories and such?”
The Lycanroc shrugged “Pretty much, it’s kinda like that as in it’s a curse transmitted from human to human to turn them into pokemon… not that I’d ever transmit it or anything…” Wade gave a deadpan stare “…not intentionally… look I didn’t know it transmit through the claws as well, I’d thought it would only be bites and such, the only others with this curse I’ve seen is likely my mom and… I’ve never really met her”
A sense of melancholy fluttred around as Wade stared at her, only now realizing that he was as tall as her now, growing at least a head taller and over 6 feet after the transformation “Can you tell me how this… curse works?”
“Well… I wouldn’t exactly call it a curse really” The Lycanroc explained “I mean it’s what it is I think, apparently someone from my past did something to piss off a legendary or something but I don’t know the details” She shrugged “But it’s not much of a curse, other than being forced into being a pokemon for the full moon, I can choose what I am”
Wade blinked “You mean, after tonight, I could turn back to human if I wanted to?”
The Lycanroc nodded at that “Yup! Though this is the first time I met anyone else with the same curse so it might not be the same”
‘Great, so my chances to rejoin society isn’t guaranteed’ The former human pessimistically thought as he absentmindedly scratched at his chest, causing a tearing sound as he looked down to realize he still was clothed for the most part and now that he noticed, it felt wrong, uncomfortable and too damn tight all at once.
An uncomfortable growl escaped his maw ‘At least I have spare clothes in by bag’
“You need any help with that?” The other Lycanroc asked curiously “You’re kind of a bit of a mess with the torn clothing, I know that must be uncomfortable”
Wade sighed “I guess” He gave a noncommitment answer “Though I’m uncomfortable with letting someone I don’t know help me with this” The male admitted as he felt an uncomfortable twitch.
It certainly doesn’t help that with his new instincts, he saw the female as attractive.
“Right, I forgot, name’s Petra” The original Lycanroc introduced herself “It’s uh… nice to meet you even if we met up in… odd circumstances”
The transformed human huffed “Wade” He managed as he absentmindedly scratched at his body “Arceus is this uncomfortable as heck”
Petra rolled her eyes “Want some help with that?”
Wade grudgingly accepted it as he lightly tore off what’s left of his jacket, still somewhat clinging to his form as the other wolf pokemon helped with his shirt and eventually his pants.
He blushed a bit when he needed help to take off his surprisingly intact underwear but was glad that the tightness at that part was gone. It was weird to feel good and natural when he was naked, but it helped that his usual equipment was hidden under the layers of white fur.
‘Thank Arceus for small mercies tonight’ The new wolf pokemon thought.
Once everything was off, it all felt natural to him as if clothing was unnecessary for this new form ‘Got to admit, it does feel quite nice with the cool breeze and the moonlight’ He thought.
“So, what now?” The former human asked curiously.
Petra shrugged “It’s up to you honestly but” She turned to the side and so does Wade as multiple fire type moves trailed into the sky to explode like fireworks “I want to continue watching before you showed up”
Wade honestly forgot about why he came here in the first place, considering what he went through “Hey, it’s not like you had to come shoo me off or anything, I just wanted to watch and get some pictures”
The female Lycanroc rolled her eyes “Yeah, sorry, I don’t want to risk this location leaking out to the trainers… most of them mean well but well, the ones that don’t are a large problem” Petra said with a sigh “A lot of the pokemon around these parts avoid the routes because they prefer their own freedom though most probably are neutral or don’t mind capture”
“Well, I know that now but I’m not the type of photographer to post my pictures online or show them off” Wade argued.
Shaking her head, Petra explained “Can’t risk it, I know of a few places like this where human activity caused them to go barren… besides, if I don’t wave you off that old Scyther would likely have well… let’s not go that far”
A shiver went up the former human’s spine and now tail with that “What’s with that Scyther anyways?” Wade asked “It’s rare for even aggressive pokemon to go after humans in such a way for the kill”
A grimace appeared on the other Lycanroc’s features “…He doesn’t hate humans or anything, he takes his job as a guardian too seriously and he thinks just killing every trainer that comes would be good enough to keep things secret” She shook her head in anger “An idiot is what he is, if a trainer goes missing they’ll send rangers to discover the why and how, nice folks but they publish their findings to the public”
“Not to mention other trainers would come a looking” Wade added as he thought about it “And too much missing reports means action from gym leaders and potentially the elite four and champion as well”
“Bingo” The female Lycanroc nodded “Which is why I simply scare them off”
Wade nodded along “What if they tell their friends or post about it online?”
Petra shrugged as she motioned for him to come along as she started walking “I simply go human and appear before them like a mysterious guardian of some sorts and simply swear them to secrecy”
Wade hummed as he looked down at his backpack and camera ‘…I can leave them here now’ He decided as he followed her “What if they lie or something?” Wade asked intrigued “If they tell a friend who tells a friend and it all landslides from there on out?”
“They generally won’t, most trainers that find out are mostly the young ones who are too true and passionate or the older veterans who understand pokemon and see us as equal to them” She explains “Either way, a bit of bribing goes a long way, especially with the less experienced or poorer trainers”
To Wade it wasn’t exactly the fullest proofed plan but who was he to judge “What happens with like poachers and similar such people?”
The smile that appeared on the other Lycanroc’s maw sent shivers down his spine “Oh those idiots don’t register themselves as trainers to avoid detection, that means no one will miss them ever” Petra said with a dark tone “Anyways, I’d like to stop here for now”
Wade blinked as he realized they got closer to the other pokemon, still a decent distance aways but closer than before as pokemon cries rang out in the night.
A couple flying types were flying about, using their command of the wind to create a controlled hurricane of wind, feathers and petals with the help of a grass type.
“So that’s what those birds were cooking up” Petra commented from the side “They keep bragging about how they’ll be the ones to win in performances tonight, unlikely considering some of the previous ones”
The transformed man hummed “Like the one with the Milotic?”
Petra nodded “Amazing one that, everything was perfectly executed, that would be hard to beat” She agreed.
“What’s with all of this anyways?” Wade suddenly asks “It’s unusual for wild pokemon to gather up to do such a performance, it doesn’t really help with their survival”
A snort sounded from Petra “Because it’s not about surviving, it’s about thriving” She stated “They come together for such contests well… just because really, a bunch of pokemon just felt like showing off and it attracted more and more and eventually it became really big, besides it shows off your control of your moves too”
Wade hummed “I see…”
“It’s not all contests either, some nights it would be freeform move showcase, others will be battle practice” The Lycanroc added “And some nights are simple get togethers just for fun, you humans limit such concepts to yourselves too much”
“Wait, aren’t you human too?” The confused former human asked.
Petra shrugged “I mean, technically if you’re going with what I’m born with and such but, I don’t see myself as one, I’ve never met my mother and all I’ve learned about humanity from my own experiences and experiments” The Lycanroc explained “I’m a pokemon Wade, one that can turn human and can’t be caught but a pokemon through and through”
A howl filled the air and both Lycanrocs turned to see the Lycanroc pack Wade saw before now on stage. It was made up of mostly Rockruffs with a few evolved Lycanroc of both Midday and Midnight forms.
He blinked as he saw another form he doesn’t recognize, it had the body of a Midday form but with orange fur, green eyes and the mane of the Midnight form.
“Looks like the pack decided to perform for the night” Petra noted with what Wade was surprised that he could tell as a warm smile “I wish them luck”
Wade scratched at the back of his neck “Are you apart of that pack?”
The way her smile widened answered that question “Yeah, they raised me since I was a pup, despite my peculiarities” She said with a sense of nostalgia “Their family, period”
“Why don’t you join in with them?” He asked, intrigued.
Petra gave him a look “I’m not good at such things and besides” A savage grin formed on her maw “Someone has to make sure no pesky humans interrupt their performance”
The photographer scoffed and rolled his eyes at the mention but was focused on the makeshift stage as the Lycanroc pack began their performance.
The pack opened with a unified howl as they start to run around the limited stage, and as Wade listened closer, he noticed that the howling was harmonized, forming a song. The simple grass covered island was slowly transformed into a jungle of rock and earth as the wolves continued to sing their song, a song about running wild in the moon sickened sky.
During their performance, as they sing songs about the moon in their howl language that Wade can now understand, an odd assortment of pokemon, hidden before entered the stage as well consisting of pokemon such as Umbreon, Bellossom, Lunatone, Morelull and Noivern.
A Bellossom threw a glowing ball into the sky at the start of the apex and all the clouds clinging to the sky cleared out, leaving only the full moon now in the middle the sky to shine down its radiant light.
All the Lycanrocs stopped to howl in the moon and the previous assortment of pokemon silently used their shared move Moonlight.
The shine of the moon brightened brilliantly and many of the jungle of rocks start to shine, reflecting the radiant moonlight across their reflective surfaces forming brilliant illusions of light to form beautiful shapes that started to move, their forms shifting to that of luminescent Lycanrocs running around the stage, through beautiful forests and structures created out of moonlight.
Wade was certain that this elaborate control of illusions is only possible with the aid of a Zoroark or Zorua as the song reached its climax and then some.
As one, the illusions and the real wolf pokemon all howled to the moon as one, a powerful howl Wade found hard to resist, a part of him, his still human mind want nothing to do with it but the new instincts, the beautiful performance, the fact that other pokemon was joining in alongside Petra and the simple psychology of wanting to join in got to him and the former human howled alongside his new species.
The illusions broke with the jungle of earth the pokemon created and they all quickly evacuated the island to the cheers of the other pokemon watching, cheers Wade could now understand and a part of him felt somewhat giddy and proud even though he wasn’t their recipient.
“Arceus that was beautiful, we’ll have to pay off so many of the others and owe the Zoroarks a favor for it to even work but I’d say it’s worth it!” Petra howled a mad laughter “What’d you think Wade?”
Wade blinked at the mention of his name “…Beautiful” Was all he managed as he absentmindedly pawed at his chest ‘I’ll probably never forget this night… ever’ He thought and the first time since he transformed, smiled.
Petra nodded and continued to cheer as Wade was deep in thought.
It was then that he realized that he forgot his camera but simply chuckled at that fact “Forget it” He muttered under his breathe “I don’t need a camera for moments like these, the pokemon don’t need them to remember it for life”
A tap on his shoulder got him to turn back to his Lycanroc companion “So… I uh, now that that’s done… I want to apologize for all of… this” Petra said nervously “For… accidentally grazing and turning you into a pokemon and causing you pain both physical and emotionally… I’m sorry”
“So, the reason you’ve dragged me to see this performance is so you can hope that by wowing me with a once in a lifetime sight that I will forgive your earlier mistake for potentially taking my life from me?” He deadpanned as he glared at her.
Petra turned away from him with a sad expression.
A sigh escaped Wade’s maw and then a light chuckle “Life usually doesn’t work like that” His answer made the female’s heart stop “But, I would be lying if I didn’t say that this was the most… unique night in my life and that… I kind of enjoyed both the night and well… being a pokemon” He begrudgingly admitted, blushing under his fur “So… thank you for the experience… and besides, you saved my life earlier, even if I’m a Lycanroc for life, it’s better than being dead”
The original Lycanroc beamed him a relieved smile “I’m glad” She told him “I… I don’t want to ever turn someone without their consent ever so, thank you for that”
Even still, as he looked at her Wade couldn’t help but be attracted to her form, a side effect of his new instincts.
The part of him attracted to her personality however was all him.
The two of them sat together in silence for a while before Petra asked him “Say, you’re still planning to return to your human life, yes?” With her head cocked to the side in curiosity.
Wade nodded “I don’t want to worry friends and family alike” He answered before a thought crossed his mind as he gave her a friendly smile “You know… I’m not supposed to come back for another week at minimum… perhaps… you can help me acclimate me with my new pokemon self and well, let me experience more performances?”
Petra returned the smile “It’s the least I can do” She agreed as they both turned back just in time to catch the next group of pokemon entered the artificial stage.
End
A beautiful full moon (M Midnight Lycanroc TF)
