Part 1 of my final assignment for my Children's Book Illustration class. For our final, we have to illustrate a front cover and one interior spread for a hypothetical children's book. I had a few ideas, including a mockup of a book based on one of my student films, however, my class really really liked the concept of this story, called "Land Puppy, Sea Puppy, Sky Puppy" about a red heeler puppy named Clover and his friend, Pearl the sea lion, befriending a red-headed flying fox named Avery. Honestly, I can see why the class agreed that this was the way to go with the project; while it doesn't have nearly as coherent of a story as my other ideas did, I wanted to go for a vibe that this story would touch on the themes of not judging a book by its cover, and the celebration of differences.
