Most MOBA games (or really, any competitive game) will frequently have ranks to help show how high up you are in skill and provide some sense that matchmaking does (or doesn't) work. For the best game play it's usually best if both teams are filled with everyone having very similar skill levels. And these skill levels are attributed by a division and rank. In MSBA, you have Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Masters and Champion. This is typically determined by the elo of the various players. Our protagonist started at 1500m, so they represent 1.5 billion people. Bronze is usually for those whose average value is under 600m, Silver is from 600-1200m. Gold from 1200-1800m. Platinum from 1800-2200m. Diamond from 2200-2600m, Masters is 2600m+ and Champions are the top 16 teams. As the MSBA is being used as a proxy for war, people are put up as stakes from the various members and then the team that wins gets those people added to their side in regards to who owns them.
I actually found the concept of various little affectations quite amusing. The notion of how might different cultures develop pass times in a similar manner to how we do them. Thus a pool table that's not exactly the same as our pool tables. Though it does bring to question on if you were here, what would you probably want to help pass the time?
