There was a time when this was the fantasy. My characters, my sona, the villains for my story, everything revolved around these fish people. Merfolk, the sea, old stories and legends, it was my entire online identity.

Until one day it wasn't.

Getting older, experiencing new stuff, and despite trying to cling to it all, eventually I grew out of it. The process took a bit longer than it should have, and for the most part it's all gone quiet.

Even so, my characters from that era pop up every so often, Charles, Bjornar, Alpheus, Pontus. They're not forgotten, just swimming near below the surface of the sea until they slip back into the stream.

When they do come back, all those old feelings rush back like a wave crashing over me. Just like here, revisiting that old feral merfolk design of my old sona.

Nothing is really ever gone.
