Bristleworms are massive monstrosities that originate from the Sinkhole, a huge tear in the ground expanding to what appeared to the Interloper as an infinite void, from which the sounds of groaning and shuddering bellow up like the shifting of titanic cyclopean bones, ancient and worn. The Sinkhole has no visible bottom and appears to descend infinitely.
Bristleworms writhe and burrow across the Ashen Expanse, a part of the Elderscapes where mockery ruins of towering abstract structures and facsimiles of human construction loom high into the darkened soiled dusty sky, illuminated by a pale sickly dying sun constantly blotted out by ash as the weak sun struggles to shine through, giving everything a dismal brown rust color and casts looming shadows at every corner.
These terrifying icons of destruction and malice were avoided by the Interloper at all costs, far too massive to be confronted or even hindered by his comparably puny size.
