This was one of those "oh I wanna draw swampert....oh I guess I can toss in trainer-sona...hmm, now I wanna add Lapras...oh this area looks flat, it needs another poke--" Rinse and repeat until I found myself with a whole ass scene to lineart.

So then I used the composition for shading and coloring practice. What was meant to be a small before bed sketch turned into big arts that I've been picking up and putting down for like 3 weeks now lmao. I know the background is so-so but that was never the focus of this piece >>; I'm a total Hoennite, but I also just wanted to add my OGs too. Lazuli the Lapras and Asmo the Houndoom are those 'always wanna have 'em in the team if I can' pokes, but if they will get nudged aside if there's already ice/water and fire/darks in the Gen. The ones that aren't your ULTRA FAVS but you still have SUCH a soft spot for em?

Also, I was the most clever child, and named my Swampert 'Muddy.' Eventually they would be renamed to Seneca after my favorite Lake in later games. I remember playing Sapphire and not really having a concept of video game logic and death--plus, the graveyard in the games and the implied dead pokes made me CONVINCED that MY beloved pokemon would die at level 100. So I stopped using Muddy at level 99. Keep in mind this was the year the game came out, we didn't have internet, etc. Didn't really have friends that played Pokemon either, nor any older sibs or cousins to confirm/deny. xD It was easily Diamond/Pearl when I was like '....wait....'
