This red fox has been with us for several months, he and his sibling were some of the worst cases of mange we'd ever seen. They were heavily infested with sarcoptes and totally hairless on arrival, skin cracked and bleeding everywhere, it's really hard to imagine the amount of pain they must have been in.
In a case so severe it takes a long time to rid the animal of the infestation, and a good amount after that to allow the skin to heal. Interestingly however, we found (after having these guys in ICU for quite awhile) they began growing their fur back and making leaps in their recovery once set in our fox run. Possible explanations being increased vitamin D production via sunlight or encouragement via exposure to the elements. Maybe it was just coincidental to our timing, in any case these two foxes did make a full recovery and were released about a month and a half after this picture was taken)

Some note about this cage since this is the only picture it will likely appear in...
I give both props and curses to the person who made this. It has superbly built underground and overland fox dens made from logs and stumps and holes which is awesome (so Props). It measures 20'x8'x4' That four(actually more like 3.5) feet is Height mind you and it is a BITCH TO CLEAN OUT (so, from my spine to you CURSES!)
