What I ride (almost) every day
So this is what I ride (almost) every day to work. A small-scale light metro system. I take the mini metro, then use online motorcycle ride hailing service. Yeah, I did say I will not use public transportation to work, instead I'd use my car, but damn, more than two months of being stuck in the traffic stressed me out.
Then I decided to take the metro, whose station is only around 150-200 meters (492-656 feet) from my apartment. To my surprise, the metro is mostly empty, I can still find a place to sit down, during AM and PM rush hours. Probably because it's relatively isolated from the city center and busier areas (you have to transit by buses to go there) and it's short (only 6 stations, my trip takes 5 including the departure and arrival stations).
The train ride is comfortable. The train sets are made by Hyundai in South Korea. It's standard/broad gauge (1,435 mm) so the ride is soft during cornering, accelerating, and braking/stopping. Softer and more comfortable than the narrow gauge (1,067 mm) used by the Commuter rail network. The trains only have two cars each, but still, because it's kinda underused the trains are rarely full. The train's air conditioning system is top notch so I don't sweat when arriving at work.
From now on, I think I'll use the metro and the online motorcycle taxi to go to work (unless it's raining). It's cheaper, I could save money on gas, and it's more environmentally friendly as well. And it's too bad my city's public transportation system is severely underdeveloped, so traffic jams are always guaranteed.
When the traffic jam is severe, it could take more than one hour by car to cover 6 kilometers (3,72 miles) from my apartment to my work place. With the metro and motorcycle taxi combo it only takes 15-20 minutes max, the rain ride takes 10 minutes on average, 2 minutes to each station, with another 5-10 minutes on the motorcycle taxi depending on traffic condition and how the guy rides his motorcycle. I could take the motorcycle taxi from my apartment to work but that costs 50% more lol, I'm half Chinese so being money-savvy is in my blood.
This mini metro, and the larger, more crowded mass rapid transit are just baby steps in curbing traffic jams, but still steps nonetheless. I now use my car only on weekends to go to the mall and have fun lol.

I wondered if you had these to ride in where you live?
This is what they look like now; https://www.pinterest.com/pin/marke.....4862013610457/
This is much closer to what I rode in when I was there; https://www.alamy.com/pakse-laos-ap.....402322296.html
It's a helluva fun ride and quite the experience. They'll drive down alleys... sidewalks... anywhere. BEEP BEEP! Comin through!

As a New Yorker, I use our subway system on a regular basis, AND the commuter rail system less frequently. Just SEEING that train car made me ask "Is this a demo?" It literally looks impossibly clean, like it just rolled off the factory line in Korea and is being shown off for a TV crew or the like. Our trains, even when absolutely new, run 24/7/365 and are so insanely heavily used that within a day there's no real way to prevent them from being fairly dirty. This train car? It's a dream.
weird, I would use it if it would be available for my commute to my current work... (70 km -.-) Its really a nice train
thats how it is here -.-
