Devil Jaguar is the 25th Kaiju Robot in the Zelan Dark Horror Army, who served as the featured Monster of the Week in the 21st Episode of the Dino Mech Gaiking Anime; "The Tears of the Devil Jaguar".

_Appearance and Abilities_
Devil Jaguar was a Jaguar like Robot Kaiju and among the few operated by a Pilot, a Zelan named Erika. It sport the capability of flight by retracting its hind-legs, becoming rocket boosters; breath fire from the mouth; the blades on the side of its neck would spin in order to cut it enemies - the move is called Fang Saturn - and finally it posses a powerful jaw with sabre fangs for crushing bites. Interestingly, Devil Jaguar had the ability to shift into a realistic Jaguar and use this form to kidnapped Sanshiro, though it does this only once.

It is among the few Monsters in the series – fifth – seeing attacking a Major City and the fourth to be dispatch by the Daiku Maryu.

Quick Note: this may be the weakest episode of the series – at this point, so far – yes, I will likely get those expectations subverted at some point.

This episode is "almost" a rehash of Liza's plot to avenge her brother, but ends up developing feelings, specially for Sakon which causes her to sacrifice herself to protect him; here, Erika wants revenge for the death of her lover, and when she meets Sanshiro a brief platonic romance develops due to his resemblance; the twist here she runs back to Zela to become a Dark Knight, which reprograms her, to wash the very emotions which were the motivation for her enlistment in the first place.

Really the episode doesn't feel well thought out and seems rushed; I blame this on the consistency of presenting a new Zelan for the characters to interact with almost every episode now only to be killed off by the end, regardless of their motivations or resolutions, these bare no meaningful impact to the crew in the following episodes when they'll meet another Zelan for them to killed. This is in my opinion the major weakness of the show, hence why Erika wasn't drawn - she is not endearing or everlasting as 803, Liza and MadMat.

Hoping to avenge the death of her lover (Stael), a female Zelan named Erika enlists to pilot the Devil Jaguar to battle the Daiku Maryu, Darius allows it after seeing her even out manoeuvring General Killer and she travels to Earth to attack the city of Paris, trying to drag the enemy to her. When the vessel makes it to France she takes off on her robot to meet it and battles it and then the Gaiking. When she defeats the Mecha and has Sanshiro on the ropes, she is shock to see him directly. Her enemy striking a resemblance to her late lover, and relapsing in her sorrow she takes off, sparing her enemies their lives, yet waiting for the opportunity to meet Sanshiro face to face at the right time of her choosing.

After landing in the airport, the group take their time on leave to enjoy sites of France as the Monster doesn't appear for a week; Sanshiro, Hachiro, Midori and Yamagatake enjoy the countryside when the Devil Jaguar, in its disguise form, kidnaps Sanshiro and jumps into the river with him, taking him to a near by Castle where Erika is waiting; unconscious and in bed, Erika tries to take the chance to kill him seeing he is not Stael but is unable to, her emotion intervening once more and remembering her last moments with Stael back on Zela just before enlisting in his final mission, wanting to marry her in Paris – apparently aliens understand the concept of the City of Love. Sanshiro wakes up and sees her and is smitten by her beauty and the two strike a conversation while seeing a fireworks display next to the castle (as far as I notice, there was NO indication there was a town near the damn place). Realizing she can't achieve her mission due to her emotions interfering, as well Sanshiro's Cheerful and Unpretentious nature that remind her of Stael, Erika leaves Sanshiro to rest and returns to Zela to be converted into a Dark Knight so to brainwashed her emotions out to the delight of Darius and Killer.

After searching for her the following morning, a disappointed Sanshiro returns to the Daiku Maryu to the relief of all, when the alarms blare with the incoming beast flying over Normandy, and the heroes take off to meet it, this time the final battle taking place next to the fame Mont Saint-Michel during its low tide season; Sanshiro deploys the Gaiking and faces the Devil Jaguar, now with Erika converted into a Dark Knight.

Gaiking tries to take the Devil Jaguar down with Saur Geyse which avoids, with the Monster then trying to burn the Mecha with its fire breath; then avoiding its Hydro Blazer, it pounce on the Robot, but Gaiking holds its mouth, when he sees the Devil Jaguar's pilot, and recognizes Erika by her Pendant – the moment of shock allows the monster to breath fire on the Mecha, causing it to fall; seeing Sanshiro in trouble, the Daiku Maryu deploys its Big Horn and wait for the moment. Gaiking takes down the Monster with Counter Punch, then tries to strike it with Counter cross which the monster avoids and pounces on Gaiking, allowing Sanshiro to unleashed Paralyzer; however, Erika acts fast and spins the Saturn Fang to cut one of the Gaiking's Horns, then tries to decapitate the Mecha, but before she could succeed, the monster is caught in the Daiku Maryu's the big horns; these crush the monster and let's it fall to the ground, with her final words been her lover's name, Erika dies as the Devil Jaguar Explodes.

As they fly home, Sanshiro thinks of Erika while watching the stars, only to be interrupted by Yamagatake.
