Hey folks, got a bit of a surprise for you here… to quote an old show
“And now for something completely different”
Specifically I got a random, silly mental image and found myself compelled to chase after it clear off a cliff like an animated coyote for the amusement of the cartoon watching audience. So behold! My attempt at a fakemon!
For what little clarification I can give this was inspired by numerous things in a random, out of control train of thought I would struggle to describe to you… chief among the inspirations are the fact that 1) I had a period as a kid where I adored spiders and knew a great deal about them and 2) I feel Spidops deserved better than it got… other assorted inspirations include
- Kabuki Theater
- Marionettes
- Anime style Ninjas (particularly the Puppeteers from Naruto)
The end result? A fluffy spider ninja using a shed exoskeleton of it’s prevolution as a string puppet to distract it’s prey before it gets them~ Enjoy.

Pokemon Name:
Aracnobi (Japanese: クモンザエ Kumonzae)
Puppeteer Pokemon
Evolution Method:
Lv up a Spidops that knows Substitute at Night
Scarlet Pokedex:
Using the shed exoskeleton of it’s preevolution as a string puppet Aracnobi deceive it’s victims into assuming they’re dealing with a spidops instead. Once it’s targets guard is down, Aracnobi ambushes them.
Violet Pokedex:
Despite being strict with the platoon of Spidops it commands Aracnobi is know to be remarkably gentle with Tarountula, not only letting them climb on and dangle from it for protection but using its puppet to entertain them.
Signature Ability:
Puppeteer
Aracnobi starts a battle with a special Substitute in play (referred to as “Puppet Out” mode) that has HP equal to Aracnobi’s HP (rather that 1/4th of their HP like a normal Substitute). Once this Substitute is dealt enough damage it is destroyed (referred to as “Broken Puppet” mode) while Aracnobi gains a boost to its speed and further created Substitutes function normally for the rest of the battle.
Signature Move:
Puppet Show
This move functions differently depending on whether or not there is a Substitute on Aracnobi’s side of the field.
No Substitute - Functions identically to Substitute, using a 4th of the users HP to create a Substitute.
Substitute - This move is a damage dealing bug type attack (physical type, 70 damage) with increased priority that ignores the targets stat changes.
