I guess
still had a bit of leftover cabbage...that's not a problem, since there's still so much you can do with it!******************************
Recipe: https://thestayathomechef.com/fried-cabbage/
Thoughts: Needed a simple recipe to use the rest of the cabbage, and this worked perfectly since I had pretty much everything but the onion, which my roomie got so it's fine. This tastes pretty good! I don't know when exactly I'd particularly crave it but it's great for that leftover cabbage from cabbage rolls. I used a bit of smoked salt in it as well.
Recipe is as follows:
5-6 thick bacon strips Cut into small pieces
1/3 cup onion Finely chopped
1/2 head green cabbage shredded or roughly chopped
1 tablespoon brown sugar Optional
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste
1/4 tsp Smoked paprika
Metric:
5 thick bacon strips Cut into small pieces
53.33 g onion Finely chopped
0.5 head green cabbage shredded or roughly chopped
1 tablespoon brown sugar Optional
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste
0.25 tsp Smoked paprika
INSTRUCTIONS
Cook bacon in a non-stick pan over medium heat until crisp. Use a slotted spatula to remove the bacon and place it on plate. Do not discard the bacon grease and drippings!
In the same pan, add onion and cook until translucent.
Add cabbage, salt, pepper, paprika and mix everything together. Cook for about 7 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
Add bacon back into the pan and mix it together with the cabbage and serve warm.

What LilChefEevee does not mention (and should have) is that this is a recipe you can do a LOT with. You could make this into fried rice, or as an okonomiyaki, or even as a filling for dumplings, gyozas, etc. !
