Alex was watching TV when he watched a commercial that just aired. A man in a blue suit anounced, "A Looney Toons announcement! 'Slappy Squirrel: The Series' is coming out next Friday. Stay tune for the COMEDY--the ACTION--the ADVENTURE! Stay tuned!" The commercial was so captivating. Alex couldn't believe Slappy just got another chance at being a lead cartoon again after so many years! Alex then began to wonder how well Slappy was doing and if she was up to this despite her old age. He heard his phone ring and he saw a text from the Looney Toons Company. It read:

SLAPPY SQUIRREL STUNT DOUBLE
Slappy is excited for her new role but there is a problem she has. She is so old now that the stunts in the show she can no longer do. No experience necessary. Interviews end 1:00 P.M. Arrive on time if interested in taking this role.

Alex couldn't believe his eyes. Slappy needed help if she wanted to do the TV show and a new job opportunity for him to earn good money and help out someone he was a big fan of! Alex called the Looney Toons Company. "Hey there! I got the message and I would like to participate in the stunt double job!" After he was done texting moments later, he got an answer. "That was quick." Alex said to himself.
A male voice on the other end said, "Thank you! So far you are the only one who agreed to take this job! Please come as soon as you can!"
"You can count on me!" Alex replied before hanging up. Alex stopped to have lunch and set off for the Looney Toons Company. He saw many famous cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird. He wondered where he could find Slappy Squirrel and her manager. He decided to ask for someone. He found the skunk Fifi la Fume and asked her for directions.
"You can find her at studio 14 to your left. You can't miss it." Fifi said.
"Thank you!" Alex said. He ran over to the studio and entered the building. Inside, he saw a group of workers talking to each other and Slappy herself. She had wobbly legs and now walked with a cane.
"Now listen, you!" Slappy scolded her manager. "I may be old, but I still have plenty of firepower! If nobody will be my stunt double, I'll do it myself! I've waited a very long time for this moment, and I am not going to lose it just because nobody wants the job!" Alex admired Slappy's determination but the idea of her putting herself in danger just because nobody wanted the stunt double job put really bad scenarios into his head that made him feel uneasy.
Alex spoke up, "I'm here for the stunt double job."
Slappy looked at Alex. "Come here, boy." Alex approached her. She still looked like she normally would except her legs were wobblier. "Alright, boy, since nobody wants the job, you're it!" Slappy looked at her manager. "Go get the hat." He nodded and left the building. She faced Alex, "What's your name?"
"It's Alex." he answered.
"Alright, Alex, all you have to do is put the hat on and I'll personally decide if you are worthy for this job. It's not for wimps!" The manager returned with a green bowler hat similar to what Slappy was currently wearing.
Alex put the hat on. "Now what?"
"Just wait a second." Slappy said.
Alex was about to speak again when he grew a bushy squirrel's tail. his face grew grey and white fuzz and his cheeks got chubbier. His eyelashes lengthened. His two front teeth lengthened to match Slappy's. His arms gotten more slender and more feminine. Fur migrated down to the rest of his body. His Adam's apple shrank causing to him to have a female voice. He began to feel like he was getting older like he was rapidly aging. Heis legs and feet altered to become more like a squirrel and his gender changed to female. A green umbrella materialized in her one hand and a pink handbag in the other. "Woah!" Alex said as she adjusted to her new, yet elderly, body.
"Now let me inspect you." Slappy looked her over. "Do you have wobbly knees?"
"No." Alex replied.
"Can you do a few jumping jacks?" Slappy asked. Alex was able to do that. "How about running?" Alex was able to accomplish that too."
"Congratulations!" Slappy smiled. "You are old enough to look like me but not too old to do the stunts. The magic hat does very peculiar things to those who aren't worthy of it like making people younger or even older than I am. Remember to wear the hat when you perform because you'll change back without it. Don't lose that hat, it's one of a kind."
"Yes, ma'am." Alex promised. The stunts were the typical Looney Toons outrageous, but Alex watched enough cartoon shows to understand what they were and how to survive. Alex spent day after day performing the stunts until Friday. Finally, the big day came and the first episode of season one aired.
Slappy Squirrel was so impressed that she embraced Alex (who was in her squirrel form). "Thanks, Alex, you are a great stunt double and hero! Now I have someone I can call to when it comes to show business. You think you are up to next week's stunts?"
"You better believe it." Alex smiled. Both squirrels laughed and enjoyed watching the rest of the new episode of Slappy Squirrel: The TV Series.
