I've posted pictures of this car before; it's a fully-loaded 1956 Mercury Monterey Phaeton that my friend George bought many years ago and enjoyed as a summer cruiser. He loved this car!
I've taken more pictures of this car than I could count, and I got to ride in it a few times.
George passed away this morning at the age of 76, so I thought it would be nice to share one last picture of this fine old chrome-laden Land Yacht in his memory. He loved this car...
So long, George, and thanks for the rides and the memories.

Thank you, m' friend.
I knew George since I was a pup, and he was well known and well liked in town.
I understand that his daughter Sharon is keeping this car and will still show and drive it occasionally. I'm pleased to know that it's staying with the family, and that we'll still get to see it now and then.

Thank you kindly, good fellow *accepts and returns hugs*
I've known George since I was a pup. He was well known and well liked around town; his lobster plant employs some 70-odd people, and he was active in local volunteer events for years.
I still remember how impressed I was when he showed up in work clothes and boots to help clean up the trash in Rood's Head Park with the rest of us volunteers one Spring when I was 10 or so. Here he was, a millionaire, mucking around and joking with everyone when he could have just sent another check to the Town Council. He didn't think that money elevated him in any way.

That he truly was. He never ran for Mayor or anything, but I certainly would have voted for him if he had.
But then, I think he served the community better the way that he did. He wasn't political, just civic minded and happy to do whatever he could in the name of the greater good. To George, time was more valuable than money.
