Goodness are these things precious! How did you do the characters on them? inlays of leather or some other technique?

Thanks for the comment :)

They're carved, tooled for depth, and then painted. They're also sealed to help protect the leather and paint :)

It depends on several factors - the complexity of the animal (especially in painting stages), and the length of the name are the two big things.

Each take about 4-7 hours, spread over at least three days :)
