Alex was taking a casual stroll down the street. He passed by many sights including a guy buying a bouquet of flowers for his wife, a couple sitting on a bench kissing each other, and a teenage boy and girl on bikes laughing together. The birds were even singing more than usual. "Must be that time of year again." Alex said to himself. He continued on his walk with his hands in his pockets when a certain black and white girl cat ran up to him with a desperate look on her face.
"Please, you've got to help me!" she begged on bended knee. Pepe is stalking me again asking me for a date and I can't say "yes"!
"Woah! Woah! Slow down!" Alex said. "If you talk without giving me the detail, how can I understand your problem?"
"Right." she said as she stood up. "I'm Penelope Pussycat."
"Nice to meet you, I believe I've read about you in the newspaper, something about Pepe chasing you to a disco club and trying dancing the night away with you. I also read you kept looking for a window to jump out of." Alex recalled reading a few days ago.
"Yes, that's right. However, since then, I started to have the strangest feeling--I think I actually like him!" Penelope said in a semi-dreamy way.
"Well, shouldn't you just tell him how you feel? He's been head over heels with you for the longest time." Alex questioned.
"If it were that simple! I am not sure if he is only looking for another beautiful woman to philander with or does he truly love me for me." Penelope sighed.
"He doesn't seem like a playboy." Alex said.
Penelope got an idea. She snapped her fingers and said, "I got an idea! It's a crazy one but I want to give it a try."
"What is it?" Alex asked, intrigued.
"Well, I am going to send a decoy in my place to take him on a date!" Penelope said. "A look alike of my beautiful self. When he sees the decoy, he'll instantly believe it is me! I'll keep a close eye on Pepe to see how genuine his feelings are for me from a distance so I don't suffer from a broken heart!"
"You're heart could still be broken if he doesn't meet up to your expectations." Alex said.
"But it won't hurt as badly." Penelope replied.
"Yeah, but who is going to be your decoy?" Alex asked.
"You will!" Penelope said.
"Uh, how are we going to pull that off?" Alex said. "I'm human, and a guy for that matter. He won't buy it."
Penelope pulled a potion from her bushy tail. "If you drink this, you'll look almost like me. I bought this from a sorcerer because I wanted to use this originally to ditch him but now that I know I truly have feeling for him, I am going to use this for something else. It'll only last for 24 hours."
"Okay, I'll be your decoy." Alex said as he took the bottle. "Bottoms up!" He drank the bottle of the blue contents. "It tastes like marshmallows." A bushy tail shot from his shorts. His face became more feline while his own hair remained. "My hair is still there. Won't he tell the difference?" Alex as his voice became more feminine.
"No, just tell him it's a new hair style. He won't question that." Penelope said.
Alex's transformation continued as cat hair spread down his body. His arms slendered and his hands became more dainty. His legs became more lady-like and he felt himself shift from male to female. Her clothes vanished leaving her undressed. "Thank god I'm covered with fur!" Alex said as her lashes lengthened. Finally the transformation was complete.
"Hmm, somethings missing." Penelope said. She snapped her fingers. "Be right back!" she sped off and returned a minute later (in a way only cartoons can run). She was carrying a long pink dress and darker pink long skirt. It was the same dress in the "Carrot Blanca" short film. "I wore this dress for a short film I stared in. I kept it in good shape. Pepe did say he liked me in it so I think this should help with our mission. Go ahead and put it on." Alex got herself dressed up and Penelope inspected it. "You look lovely."
"Why, thank you!" Alex smiled.
Penelope pulled out a phone and called Pepe. "Yes, I want to go on a date with you. Where are we going?" She winked at Alex as Pepe told her what he wanted to. "You want to go to the park, have dinner at "Marie's" French restaurant, go to the tunnel of love at a local amusement park, and watch the fireworks. Sounds good to me." Penelope hanged up. "Alright, Alex, you are going to have quite an eventful night. You are going to a walk through the park, eat at 'Marie's' which is a local French restaurant (be sure to order what he orders to convince him that I am really in love with him), ride in a tunnel of love at the local amusement park (she handed him some money to pay for the ride), and you'll both be walking to a hill to watch some fireworks, he'll be pointing the way to your last destination."
"And you'll be close by?" Alex asked.
"Yep." Penelope caught sight of Pepe humming a romantic tune. He was walking in their direction. "I gotta go before he sees me!" She disappeared behind the corner of a building.
Pepe walked up to Alex. "Ah, Penelope, wearing the dress I love to see you wear? You look so beautiful!' Alex blushed and looked to the side. Penelope briefly appeared and gave her the thumbs up.
"Y-yes, I thought you might like it." Alex said.
"Your hair is different, though." Pepe observed.
"I went to the hair stylist to get it done. I thought it was cute." Alex said.
Pepe smiled, "I like it! Shall we?" Pepe led Alex by the hand away. The walked through a park filled with topiary designs of various animals and objects.
"Well, you do have a liking towards topiary designs." Alex said.
"Ah, you have a keen eye. I do love topiary." They walked towards a man selling roast chestnuts. Pepe said, "I'll go get some, but only a little for both of us to share. We wouldn't want to spoil our appetites for dinner."
As Pepe le Pew walked over to the salesman, Alex heard Penelope whisper "Psst!" Alex crept towards the bush with Pepe distracted.
"Well, what do you think of Pepe?" Alex asked.
"I'm not sure yet. Keep up on the good work." Penelope said. As Alex saw Pepe turn around, she returned to where she was standing.
"Let us go!" Pepe said. They ate their chestnuts, which Alex found delicious, and followed the skunk out of the park. They next found "Marie's". The two sat down at an umbrella table and looked at their menus. "I'll have the ratatouille." Pepe told the French waiter who just arrived at their table. "And you, mademoiselle?"
"I'll have that too." Alex said, remembering what Penelope told her. The waiter left. "So, Pepe, have you seen many sights globally?"
"Yes, mon ami, but nothing as enchanting as your face." said the romantic skunk. Alex was glad she wasn't falling in love with Pepe, otherwise might not be happy with her if the plan backfired. The waiter served them the ratatouille. Alex tasted the ratatouille. She never tasted this dish before, but she found she liked it. As they finished it, Alex decided to ask Pepe a question. "Have you met any other women before me?" Penelope's ears perked when she heard. She was sitting on a nearby bench hiding her face with a newspaper. She cut eyeholes in it so she could see. "There are many fish in the sea, but you are the only fish my heart desires. You are the only woman I ever dated." Penelope blushed at Pepe's statement.
"So far so good." Alex thought to herself. After they finished their dinner, the two hurried over to the amusement park. "Tonight, we ride the tunnel of love." Pepe said. It was already sunset when they paid for their tickets and climbed aboard a swan shaped boat. Alex only caught sight of Penelope for a moment. She had her fingers crossed with a hopeful look on her face. The two rode into the dark tunnel. Alex wasn't sure what to say until she felt Pepe place his hand on her shoulder. Alex decided to make this look as realistic as possible for Pepe and leaned her head on his shoulder. Pepe whispered, "I love you, sweetheart." and kissed Alex right on the left cheek! Alex blushed. She felt so grateful that they were in the dark and not in broad daylight! Who knows if Pepe got suspicious?" Alex then thought about it. She thought in her head, "Nah, he's been pretty oblivious so far. No need to worry about being discovered." He kissed her a few more times. Alex wrapped her arms around Pepe and kissed him about a dozen times. When they came out the other end of the tunnel, Pepe had lipstick marks all over his face. He had a dreamy look on his face. When the ride was over, Alex and Pepe got off the boat.
"Pardon me, I need to go to the restroom." Pepe said as he walked away.
Alex saw Penelope walk towards her. "Having a good time?"
Alex was scared she was mad at her for kissing Pepe that much. "I didn't mean to smooch him that much! I'm sorry if I made you feel jealous!"
Penelope giggled. "No, you didn't. I was hoping for this! All you have to do is see the fireworks and your task is done!" She pulled out her purse. "How much do you want me to pay you for your services?"
Alex shook her head, "I don't want the money! I am helping you as a friend."
Penelope said, "You are a good friend."
Alex noticed Pepe coming. "You'd better hide!" Penelope ran and hid behind a tree.
"Now, we will go see the fireworks to end out date!" Pepe said. "Follow me." The two left the amusement park and traveled quite a distance to a lonely hill. They both sat down. Penelope was watching them through binoculars so as not to get too close. In less than a minute, the fireworks went off. Brilliant colors of pink, green, yellow, and purple colored the night sky.
"This is beautiful." Alex said.
"Yes it is, mon ami." Pepe said. They continued to watch the fireworks. Penelope's eyes filled with tears, now she knew he really did care about her.
As the fireworks ended, Pepe said, "Thanks, Penelope, I enjoyed our date. Would you like to go on another date tomorrow?"
"Yes." Alex said. They hugged each other for what seemed like a long time. Then they let go. "Au revoir!" Pepe said as he left.
Penelope rushed over to Alex and hugged her, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" she said. "You did an amazing job, Alex!"
"Ah, it was nothing!" Alex said. "You know I did agree on another date with him, tomorrow."
"I'll go this time!" Penelope said. "I'll see you again later!" Penelope and Alex embraced each other and departed ways.
