The lore from their OG art is as follows.

They have your usual nature abilities of plant growth, healing and purification as well as rejuvenation. Also I shape-shifting! They are a bringing of abundance though they are shy and rarely spotted. You can often note their passing by the riotous growth of natural life-giving plants particularly medicinal or edible in nature. Their pawprints always leave behind clean water usually with blue-its(a small blue flower) or clover or bother surrounding them. Catching this spirit to preserve its properties is a sure way to rot your land. As it only brings harmony to a location while they are in and of themselves harmonious. Most of the time this gentle spirit keeps on the move but rarely they will stay in one location in order to proliferate. These locations are usually selected for their protections, or clarity and abundance of magic further helped along by the Guardian's presence.

I'm still looking for a world to place them in. Right now they are in my central world called Home. Home is a nexus point for all my worlds and it's called Home because anyone and everyone can find a place they belong there. It's also my first and original world, watched over by elemental cat gods. Laurelei looks after the element of living earth and growth, where as Ian looks after stone. It's likely this guardian resides in one of their domains but could be under Shadow or Pan(the Light guardian). I think I'll call him Reiun.
