temba is someone ELSE I wanted to meet at FC, and though we managed to get dinner one night (which I had to rush off from since I was late to Fur-l In the Blank) I still kinda wished I could've met up longer, especially since he's from out of the country!
He did get a sketch commission from me, and while I enjoyed the idea I drew up, the scale didn't really showcase his character too much. So I wanted to try drawing a little more substantial.
I actually hadn't planned to make this THAT substantial. The pose and the coloring were easy, but I ended up trying to toss on some quick additional shading. I'm sure most of you know by now that I can render the heck out of things in markers, but I'm still feeling out using the tablet...this is nowhere near as sharp as it could be, but it twas good practice. And frankly, a gift piece is the best time to experiment; no pressure, right?
This is an attempt to reproduce his car, though I no longer had the model name and had to make do with the one reference. I HOPE I got the size about right, it's a sporty little subcompact. I actually don't have a heck of a lot of reference for his character, so I hope I got that right too...IIRC that goatee may not normally be there but I just thought it worked.
And hey look, dude. I GOT THE DRIVERS' SIDE CORRECT THIS TIME XD

I guess. I dunno, not really sure how to explain it. I just go by the method of "keep making it darker 'til it's dark enough" ^ ^;; Part of the reason it works so well with markers is those have a limited color pallette, so I know exactly how dark it'll make it...with the unlimited digital choices, it's just not as predictible.
This is like the most awesome surprise ever! *grin!* First thing I checked was the steering wheel, good job *laughs* I absolutely love it. Car is the perfect colour, and shape.
I don't usually have a goatee... but I'm liking it so I think my character's gonna keep it.
It was really awesome meeting you at FC, sorry I got so busy and didn't have all that much free time to catch up... but I'm planning on being at the next one!

LOL. Um. I actually DID draw it on the wrong side again at first. Thankfully digital makes it easy to erase XD

Don't normally see that much hair/fur/treasure trail from you. I like it! ^_^ And always good to see more cougar--while Doug was and always will be my favorite cougar, you're so damn good at showing off how hot the species is regardless.
He's got a slightly smug look indeed ("Yeah I'm hot, and I know I deserve to be seen shirtless") but it doesn't detract at all. He's just showing off what he has (and has a right to be doing so), it's not his fault if we can't take our eyes off him and lay it on too thick... ;)
