Eh. His stubbornness has kept him alive all this time. And he's done remarkably well for a lone yinglet in such a predator-heavy environment?

And seriously, he's been through some really horrible trauma, and didn't have anyone other than Slayer and Noisy Boy to keep him company.

One of my favourite TV series is "Edge of Darkness", where it's never entirely clear whether the protagonist is out of his mind or actually seeing a ghost. (Indeed, "both" is possible if a traumatic shock were able to unlock latent abilities)

You have managed to get a similar vibe going here and I love it. Especially how happy Slayer is.
