Foxes show up frequently in my stories, I don't know why. I usually remedy this in editing, but this time, have not, so here are two foxes.

English is my native language! I know quite a bit more than I ought about Romanian though, but that's a story of its own.
I do like writing accents! Despite the fennec dropping a Romanian word, his accent is probably closer to Spanish or to Indian. That might seem arbitrarily eclectic, but I promise, isn't!

A fellow writing avian migrating from the land of silence! Nice to meet you; I'm in a rather similar boat.
With the thick accent and the dim setting, this piece draws my attention to how much I don't understand, and I wonder if that's just how the boy feels. I particularly like this little interlude in the dialogue that makes clear what an eerily still night this was.
"OK. Then the name of this man, boy."
There was no cricket in that night. It was a chill spring night. There was the distant call of an
owl and the returned call of another, then there was no sound.
"Lucian."
Very atmospheric.
