Introducing the oldest new character on my cast, Quirinalis the Charr!
Why do I say oldest new character? Because pretty much everything about her was largely decided over a year ago, but took me forever to finally draw her ^^;
Name : Quirinalis Fierceguard ("Quiri")
Title : Goddess of Security, Duty, and Irony
Species : Charr
Size : Base - 7'5'' ; Max - Unkown
Personality : Professional, firey, protective, kind, quick to frustration on certain topcis (primarily being worshiped)
Ynaa's Note : Do not call her a goddess even if she is
Relations :
- Accidentally ascended by Kyra. Occassionaly in contact for advice thanks to communication device provided by Ynaa
- Has occassional checkins with Ynaa for usual new divinity introductions and for being an unusually powerful individual with unclear Tier placement.
Abilities :
- Worship, Praise, and Adoration Sponge -
Very much like Kyra, Quiri grows from most forms of worship, praise, adoration, thanks, and appreciation that are directed her way. Slightly differently from Kyra, however, her growth also very often sees some extra focus on her paws and muscles in addition to her overall growth. Also while the growth resulting from this worship/priase/adoration/thanks/appreciation is substantial, it does not have the same potency as Kyra's own. Even still, it is not uncommon for Quiri to find herself at beyond mountainous sizes.
Also much like Kyra, it is unknown if Quiri's growth has a limit. Kyra can more easily achieve post-universal scale Deity Tier sizes both purely from this worship fueled growth and under her own ability. Quiri's worship fueled growth is not as powerful and her natural divine power for the moment is around Nephilim Tier, but there is no evidence that Quiri would not be able to achive planet scale or greater as a result of this worship fueled growth.
Background :
Quirinalis was and remains a Guardian on her homeworld. A virtuous individual who devotes their combat prowess most effectively in selflessly defending allies and the innocent. Even still, Quiri tends to work alone. Prefering the calm of solitude over the chaos of large groups. She does still belong to a small warband and works with and confers with them frequently, of course, and is regarded as the preeminent Guardian of the warband, but that does not change that she still prefers quiet solo assignments.
Her preference for solitude does not, however, deminish her kind and protective personality nor her firey determination and disposition. She will still happily revel in a good fight and deliver quips with the best as she guards an ally from harm. Despite that fiery disposition in combat and among friends, she does maintain a distinguished air of professionalism when dealing with superiors and with those she is tasked with defending.
This was Quiri's life until one perfectly normal night when, as she slept, she was struck by a beam of bright green light crashed down on her from the stars. Unkown to her, this was a massive outpouring of energy sent out by Kyra in an attempt to divest herself of all of her divine power. Trying to get rid of all of that divine power and ability so that she could live a normal, quiet life without worrying about growing up and out because someone thanked her for holding the door. This attempt failed, of course, but all of that Deific energy and power was now flying through space to either disipate at the edge of the universe or harmlessly impact some uninhabited rock or a star. In spite of just how much open space there is in the universe and how comparitively small this beam of energy was, it somehow managed to cross paths with this world of Quiri's and not only that but somehow honed in on Quiri specifically almost as if that energy was seeking out someone that could be trusted with it (a fact that has very much caught Ynaa's curiosity and attention to attempt to explain)
Surprisingly, this didn't wake up Quiri. But when she woke up the next morning she was surprised to find her head resting against the mountain that had been many many miles distant and her tail wrapped around a nearby settlement several times. As she stood and tried to make sense of what had happened to her, she could hear (again much to her surprise) the people in that settlement talking about her, appreciating her form (as she had also experienced some upgrades to her musculature, paws, and feminine proportions), and even discussing whether or not she was a new goddess. Being a Charr and very much against the concept of deities, she did not take well to being called a goddess and did her level best to explain that she was not, in fact, a goddess (even if she technically was now despite not really knowing it). One thing led to another, the people wouldn't stop talking about her being a goddess, and in frustration she kicked the mountain she had woken up against and sent it flying halfway across the continent. This act, of course, did nothing to disuade the appearence that she was a goddess.
It was after kicking the mountain, that Quiri realized that she had been growing more this whole time and especially after that act of frustration and which only confused her more. At this point, she heard an odd popping sound and found herself suddenly no longer on the looming over a settlement, but instead standing back in her camp again and a curious looking being she had never seen before in very strange attire sitting by the fire. A curious looking being who happened to be Ynaa. Ynaa explained roughly whe she was and that she had been observing for the past few hours what seemed to have happened to Quiri and what seemed to be triggering her growth and happily welcomed Quiri to the group of mortals who had unexpectedly found themselves ascended to higher tiers of size, power, and ability (while making careful note not to use any words like "Goddess" or "Deity").
This all naturally had Quiri still rather surprised and confused, especially since no one on her world even knew of other worlds with life on them, but she did her best of follow what Ynaa was saying and accepted Ynaa's gift of a communication device similar to some Asuran devices she had seen in the past. Ynaa explained that this device could be used to contact herself if needed and also "a certain other individual dealing with abilities very similar to your own" (Kyra). Before parting, Ynaa also explained that Quiri should not be too worried about accidentally stepping on things while extra large as there are special natural mechanisms for individuals of great size (not using the words Gods and Goddesses of Nephilm Tier and up) and "backups" in place universe-wide to make sure nothing is permanent or truly destructive.
Now Quiri continues her life much as it was before, but now with attempting not to be thanked too profusely for her assisstance (extremely difficult) and taking advantage of her usually larger than normal size to perform her duties more effectively while also doing everything she can to make sure no one calls her a goddess as she does take a fair amount of offense at such descriptions.
And there at last is Quiri completed! I'll admit a part of why it took so long was because I wanted to do her design justice what with all the muscles c.c'
In the end, I'm very happy with how she came out!
As for why one of her domains is "Irony"? That's because yes she is a goddess, but she is staunchly opposed to the concept of deities. Hence irony that she has become one herself ^^;
Also regarding the colors of her fur and armor, I decided to have them matching and/or very reminiscent of Kyra's because of the connection that she and Kyra share. Couldn't be a perfect match, of course, but I feel it works well for her ^^
I should note too that at this point she and Skögul have the largest paws of my whole cast~
I'm also still trying to figure out ways to help Quiri tie in more with the rest of my cast, but haven't really decided on anything yet...
And just for part of the amusing reason Quiri even became a character in the first place, a snippet of somethign a friend wrote up of her reacting to being called a goddess when she refuses to believe she is one...
"You little pipsqueaks are being a bunch of bullheaded pea-brained tiny-" She cuts off as she stubs a toe on a mountain, crushing it. "DAMMIT!"
"See? She shapes the earth itself!"
"You jackasses are pissing me off!" She roars back, causing earthquakes and tornados.
