Trade with one of my dear friends, and M’lday
Ishaway!
She wanted to see me draw a manatee… however, it was in the NWP style. Sadly, I am not in close proximity to anyone I can ask permission or trade for... so I said I’d draw her some Manatee in a Caricatures [circus] style, and maybe close to the end of the year when I’m in BC, I’ll be able to bring the subject up again. :)
HOPE YOU LIKE M’LADY!

I don't think ANYONE can mistaken a seal for a Manatee. And if they did, they would need a serious SERIOUS slap in the head.
Mind you, speaking of seals and manatees, Chuck Jones did a GREAT short based on Rudyard Kipling "The White Seal" ... this conversation reminded me of it. XD

The white seal was my favourite jungle book story with rikki tikki being close behind. Chuck Jones did a great job with them although I have to admit that neither has aged as well as I would like. I actually use the name Kotick in a fair few different places, the name of the main character from that story as you probably know :>
I think it's kind of interesting to see how different people handle themselves on FA depending on what their early influences are. The Jungle Book was definitely one of mine, and I didn't see the film version until much later. But I can see a lot of people who saw the film as children and it gives them a completely different vibe.
Also I'm starting to think that we should probably just talk on messengers if you use any of them. I spent a lot of my childhood living on a native reservation in northern Canada, so we probably have a lot of stories to share.

Sorry love, but I don't use messaging systems very often or at all- they distract me form all the work I do in my various positions.. so it's pretty muhc private notes or e-mails for me. XD
I have to admit, I'm not entirely sure which we were exposed to first. I remember having the Disney version in book form which was the first one I read, but I only saw the movie after I read the original book. Or maybe not? Either way, my mother was adamant to show us that books and movies are different from one another... so if there is a film based on a book, we should read the book as well and know about differences. I always thought of them as two different things- not exactly the "same story". XD
