There's generally a lot of misconceptions about Illithids, mostly that they're all 'evil' and 'don't care for any kind but themselves'. Alester knows better, even made friends with one who was happy enough to let him borrow a spellbook until he found the one he lost. Don't think he'll be holding onto it long though.
