Safely sleeping children, guarded by their uncles and pack mates release Damara from the watch. Deep in the night, soft and quiet padding of feet catch only one keen set of ears.

A thought has been bothering Damara for many seasons now. Was the red wolf still roaming behind the trees, or had his last breath been where they left him? Her eyes and mind craved an answer.
She found the familiar tree line many paces outside of Onni where the wolf last laid. It was not enough. Pacing she retraced that night. Until her foot felt the pierce of something sharp. Lumps of uneven snow poked out in odd places. A simple push and it was revealed. The bones and fur finally silenced the never ending question
