Baaaad pun.
Here's Illinois Central SD70 #1003, the third unit in an order of 40, starting with a batch in 1995 and more in 1999-- these were the last locomotives built for the Illinois Central. Only 120 SD70s were built, for Norfolk Southern, Conrail (their SD70s went to NS with its split-up in 1999), Illinois Central and Southern Peru Copper. All other railroads purchased SD70Ms, which have a wide "desktop" cab and a different radiator configuration. Ironically, the 1999 order was delivered *after* Canadian National bought IC in 1998. These units have kept their IC paint, numbers, and other original specs, but with IC's sale to CN, they have ended up as far away as British Columbia!

Reminds me of the line that goes to Powerton in Bartonville, IL. Lotta BNSF Stuff, Desktop SD70s in the BN/BNSF Cream and Green, tho more lately I have been seeing more and more newer BNSF equipment like the new SD70s. Saw alot of CN stuff too. Montreal Locomotive Works units, ( cant remember the model numbers off the top of my head) and some IC SD-40-2s, One of which was in Operation Lifesaver livery.
They are on Coal Drags going to the Power Plant. BSNF and IC/CN run on that line along with a local line, the TP&W. I do recall once seeing a UP SD70 pulling a string of Avintine Energy hoppers, but anyways, the Coal drags come off the BNSF Chillicothe Sub, I cant remember where the CN comes in from off the top of my head, but I have seen MLW units on the coal drags. Looked like a F40 with a three window SD70 Desktop cab, and had like these indents leading up to the cab with windows so the crews could see behind them. Gah....I really wish I could remember the Model numbers....
Those are headed down to Metro East Industries in East St. Louis to have Distributed Power equipment installed in them so they can be run and run as DP units. They're also having hot plates and microwaves installed in them so they can lead into Canada.
And in true CN fashion, they're not spending any money and they are NOT being rebuilt, so they will come back in black and white!
