This was actually the first drawing I ever did of Scrub the Jay, getting chewed out by his superior officer, Col. Jasper the Leopard. This pretty well illustrates who Scrub USED to be, before his rise to being a formidable villain in the Egg Army. Just a happiless grunt doing his best, hard working but meek. He wouldn't stay that way forever, though.

And Jasper, despite being a real pain of a boss, ultimately goes the other direction. Like so many others in the Empire, he was a decent Mobian swept up into an unrelenting war machine just trying to save his own pelt. Eventually he can't handle the stress and the guilt and the fear anymore, and defects away to try to find a peaceful life. This kitty's heart is too soft.
