Yeah, and that's pretty much the attitude I'd have to go in with. I think it's at best unwise and at worst self-destructive to approach them thinking "Give me more of what made the first one work, at the same caliber!" I like to think I know better than that. I can enjoy media that I know lives up to certain standards and not others.
Have you seen Filmation's Pinocchio? I thought it was THE Pinnochio movie growing up. Basically it's him and a bear fighting literal Satan at a carnival. It's cheap, disturbing, and fucking glorious. I think it's Pinnochio and the Prince of Darkness. Had that tape growing up.
