Oh no. I do not like that shrine. I do not like that shrine at all and the interactions with it and the connotations. I do not like that shrine whatsoever, no boy. But also integrating into the family is adorable. But also also who is this girl really and what is she up to.

what... are the connotations? who is the posean on the shrine? Ka?

I am pretty sure that's an Elastian. And the connotation is that they are 1) treated as gods, which is not something that seems like it was part of the plan and 2) that there is a religion promoting lowering their sense of self worth. Me no like.

I think Elestians at least thought about the fact they could end up divinised, especially after their departure. But it's hard to tell what is part of their plan, since they never said anything about it to Ka, at least not in the part of her story we read :c And even if they explained the exact plan, it's quite possible everyone would understand and repeat it their own way, to their own benefit :c

We've seen the shrine before, ch2 p9. And it's clearly an Elestian shrine.

I very clearly get the idea that this has gone way beyond what they'd thought of. Or maybe intended.

A question poped out of nowhere : do you think gardians are still here, watching over Poseans ? Elestians said they where asigned to newborns, so maybe they just went invisible, as they can do, when Elestians left, but keep watching. It would be strange for Elestians to let Poseans without surveillance, even if they are now allowed to do a lot more things, as killing...
And if gardians are still watching, how far should a Posean go to make them interact by stopping them ? Or helping them, like when they taught them to do fire ?

Perhaps this was part of the Elestian's plan all along. Give the Poseans some help in establishing themselves, then let them pursue their own fate from there.

Consider parenting as an analogy.

As someone who spent most of my childhood growing up with a friend's family because of issues at home, it makes me very happy to see Brin being accepted and getting along with everyone.
