Katt Visits Dogg: Chapter 5
Molly and Oscar headed to the dining room, where dinner was served. Because, duh, it was the dining room.
“Oh, Oscar.” Molly said. “Don’t worry about not liking what my family cooks. I already mentioned that kattfish is something we’re very fond of!”
“You did?” Oscar said. “Wow, thank you, Molly!”
Both sat at the table.
“I hope you enjoy dinner, Oscar.” Molly’s mother said, tenderly. “We prepared it especially for you and Molly.”
“We did? Uh, I mean. Nyes! We did!”
Oscar was amazed by what he saw: kattfish stew! He instantly had a flashback of when he and Molly were lost at the Western Frontier Park and one night, stumbled upon the eccentric doggkatt Granny. Though they were scared of her at first, she turned out to be really gentle and kind, and served them kattfish stew! Oscar kind of, sort of, missed Granny…
“Don’t you love it, Oscar?” Molly asked.
“Oh, I sure do!” Oscar said.
But before Oscar could begin chomping the food, Molly’s dad stopped him.
“Wait up, little dogg!”
“What? What’s wrong?”
“Before eating, we must always thank our Creator for providing us the food we need.” Molly’s mom said. “Didn’t your family teach you that?”
“Um… I guess not.”
“Why am I not surprised?” Blaze said.
“Come on, everyone. Let us pray.”
Oscar and Molly’s family put their hands together, closed their eyes and prayed to thank for the food. When they finished, they started eating. For Oscar and Molly, it tasted really special. It reminded them of the night they spent with Granny Doggkatt.
“Honey, look at the smile on their faces!” Molly’s mom said to her husband. “Not bad for my first try at making kattfish stew, right?”
“Oh, not at all, Fluffy dear!” Molly’s dad said.
Once they finished the kattfish stew, Fluffy’s mom said:
“Alright, who wants dessert?”
She went to the kitchen and brought crème brulee, cheese soufflés and mouse mousse (which was going to be exclusively for Molly’s family because dogs don’t eat mice).
“Bon appetite, Oscar!” Molly’s dad said.
Oscar grabbed a cheese soufflé and some crème brulee and began to savor them. They tasted nice, for being food made by katts.
“Congratulations to the chef!” Oscar said.
“You heard that, mom?” Molly said. “Oscar likes your cooking!”
“Wow! I’m flattered!” Molly’s mother said.
“You know what, Mrs. Hissleton? I could use your baking skills. My birthday is in one week.”
“Really?” Molly said. “I didn’t know! In that case, I’ll make sure I get something really special for you!”
“Gee! Thank you, Molly.”
“Anytime.”
“Oh, of course!” Molly’s dad said. “We’ll get you the best gifts!”
Oscar blushed.
“Oh, you don’t have to bother.”
“We insist.” Molly’s mom said.
“Oh, look!” Molly’s dad said. “It’s pretty late now. Why don’t you two go back to Molly’s bedroom, play a little more and prepare to say goodbye to each other?”
“Daddy’s right.” Molly said. “I think it’s almost time for you to leave, Oscar.”
“What? But time flew! And it’s not even a bird or a flying animal!”
“I know, Oscar. Then come on! Let’s have a little more fun before you go home!”
Oscar and Molly went to her bedroom and wondered what to do next. Suddenly, Oscar started scratching with his leg.
“Oscar, not in the bed! Or in my room!” Molly said.
“Sorry, I’m a bit itchy.” Oscar said.
“Oh… do you want me to scratch you?”
“For real life?”
“Kind of, sort of…”
“Thank you, Molly! You’re really kind! That’s why you’re my favorite katt.”
“Thank you, Oscar. And you are my favorite dogg.”
Molly sat on the bed and scratched Oscar in the back. Oscar couldn’t help but pant repeatedly. He enjoyed it like never before, especially because Molly wasn’t reluctant about scratching his back this time.
“Down there, down there.” Oscar said.
“Oh, you mean, here?” Molly asked.
“Ooh, yes! That one hit the spot!”
Oscar was so satisfied with Molly’s scratching that he asked her to let him return her the favor with something good.
“Well… um…” Molly thought. “My fur has become a bit messy.”
“You want me to comb your fur?” Oscar asked.
“You don’t have to…”
“I insist!” Oscar said. “Plus, I have to get my fur combing Dogg Scout Merit Badge!”
“Nice!” Molly said. “Go ahead.”
Oscar grabbed a fur brush and began to comb Molly’s fur. While combing the fur of her head, Molly purred. Then Oscar looked at Molly’s ears. He thought they were adorable, though one of them was missing a piece of it due to an encounter she had with a fox. When Oscar combed Molly’s tail, he remembered how a mountain lion had bitten the top of it. However, on top of all, he remembered how Molly didn’t defend him when her dad blamed him for all that stuff. Wow, it seemed like he still hadn’t gotten over it. Suddenly, he had an idea.
“What a cute fluffy tail you have!” Oscar said.
“Oh! Uh… thank you.” Molly said, blushing a little.
“Mind if I hug it a little?”
“Um… sure! Go ahead.”
Oscar leaned his head against Molly’s tail. It felt like the comfiest pillow ever! He wondered why didn’t all dog beds have pillows that soft. Then, he began to nibble it, tickling her katt friend in the process.
“Hey, Oscar! What are you doing?” Molly said, giggling.
“Mmmm!” Oscar said. “Tastes like cotton candy!”
Reaching for her ears, Oscar said:
“Wow, look at these cute pointy ears?”
“Oscar, what are you up to now?”
“See if they taste like tortilla chips, just like you said!”
Oscar nibbled Molly’s ears, tickling her more. Molly couldn’t help but giggle cutely.
“Okay, Molly. I think we’re now even.”
“What do you mean?”
“Wasn’t I who bit your tail and ear?”
“Oh, right...”
Once Molly sat on the bed again, she said.
“Oscar, I’m sorry for throwing you under the bus.”
“What? I don’t remember you throwing me under any bus. Unless I’m already in heaven and I’m looking at you as an angel.”
Molly giggled and blushed.
“No, silly! I mean, I’m sorry for not defending you when dad blamed you for biting my ear and tail.”
“It doesn’t matter now, Molly! It’s all in the past.”
“… I’m glad you think like that, Oscar. And I’m glad you visited me.”
Molly gave Oscar a BIG hug. Oscar didn’t see this coming. He nearly fainted, but not as much as when Molly “kissed” him.
“No problem, Molly. This was the best day ever!”
“I know.” Molly said.
Then, she whispered in his ear.
“And I’m going to make things up.”
“What?”
“Well, Oscar. I think it’s time for you to go home now.”
“Yes, but…”
Molly took Oscar to the door.
“Mom, dad!” she said. “Oscar is going home now.”
“Oh! Uh… Toodle-oo, Oscar!” Molly’s dad said. “Hope to see you next time!”
“We’ll miss you, cutie!” Molly’s mom said.
“Wait! I don’t wanna go yet!” Oscar said. “And what do you mean by making things up?”
Molly whispered in his ear again:
“I’ll come visit you. I promise.”
“Really?!”
“Shh! Now go, Oscar!”
“Okay, Molly. Bye!”
“Bye, Oscar!”
Oscar walked out of the door, amazed by what Molly said. She was going to visit him? Right after he visited her? Bow-wow! That sure was the best night ever! But, how was she going to convince her parents to let her come to his house? Oscar didn’t care. He knew Molly was one smart katt and a great future actress. She would surely find a way. Smiling and wagging his tail, Oscar headed home in the bus.
“Oh, Oscar.” Molly said. “Don’t worry about not liking what my family cooks. I already mentioned that kattfish is something we’re very fond of!”
