Yup another random alien species. The product of a late night idea and trying to sketch myself out of a rut. So as usual we'll have a species info entryy and some info on this character in particular.

The Selane are a humanoid species native to the planet Selata. Approximately 6 centuries ago Selata's star entered it's red giant phase and began rapidly expanding. The Selane were able to cope with the heat for a time and had opened the expanding star would nudge their planet farther out as it expanded. This proved untrue however. The Selane had early interstellar technology. Detecting Earth at a distance they were able to ascertain that the planet was life wearing but nothing beyond that. Even with their advanced drive system the journey to earth would still take several centuries. So with most of the ship's inhabitants in Cryo for the duration the ship's crew operated in shifts as they made their long journey to earth. Upon their arrival they quickly noticed humanity at it's current state of development. Lacking resources to travel any farther they made first contact. A first for both parties. After several weeks of negotiation the Selane were allowed to settle on earth in exchange for technological advancements. Since that time the Selane have introduced many new technologies and have managed to stabilize the planet's ecosystem. Relations with humans are mixed. Many humans get along fine with them and are thankful for the technological advancements. Others however dislike the Selane for a multitude of reasons ranging from the Selane not being a very religious people to their openness and acceptance of same gender relationships. There is also the issue of species purity as it has been found that humans and Selane can produce reproductively viable offspring.

Naitren here is a young Selane living with his parents in the continental US. His father is working to help develop and expand their space flight technology and bring the humans up to speed on it while his mother is introducing their medical technology and procedures to them. Naitren himself is just trying to adapt and fit in if he can. Not the easiest thing to do when your species could qualify for a spot on the endangered species list. Naitren tries to be friendly and social with everyone though he does get picked on by some of his less then pleasant human peers. One thing in particular is Naitren's diapered state which when discovered draws taunts. Naitren here wears them due to his age and tradition. For one toilet training occurs at a later age for them and for another it is common for many to simply remain in diapers as it was a long held method used by those native to the southern continent in the western hemisphere of their world.
