also, although I am of late trying to avoid artist-to-artist comparisons, it does kind of remind me of the French symbolist/proto-surrealist Odilon Redon

Yes I was awaiting some mushroom jokes as well. It's likely that since this is not a color piece and not sexual...nobody here is going to look at it. XD
