Finished reading Blood Meridian recently, I don't recommend it. 💀
It's a pretty rattling book and the ending left me feeling shaken honestly lol so doodled my reaction.
Having only ever looked into the adventurous side of westerns like the Clint Eastwood movies, Magnificent Seven, Tombstone, Red Dead Redemption, and Call of Juarez etc etc etc I will say it's an amazingly brutal deconstruction of the Western genre and gives a sobering look into the realness that was the sheer brutality of the American and Mexican frontiers.
I do however recommend checking out Wendigoon's video about it, that I watched after finishing the book.

Wendigoon makes cool stuff! I've yet to see that one so thanks for the reminder, he makes great long form content to put in the background while doing other things too. I'd say you made a good call, Blood Meridian is a grueling endeavor of a book but it's well worth a read. It will put some hair on your chest to put it lightly lol.
The Road wasn't in my class's circulation sadly but I heard some pretty intense stuff about that one as well, and another friend rec'd me No Country for Old Men so going to check that one out down the line too. :)

Still readin through it. I loved No Country For Old Men both novel and film! Cormac WAS (RIP) my most favorite author alive and has always been a go-to when it comes to writing.
I, much like Cormac himself, would still love to see an adaption of the novel. It'd have to be really long (I'm talking 3 to 4 hours; and it's possible to make four hours) while also managing to capture the brutality and shock of the novel. I know there's already been 26 attempts, but hey, I'm sure someone bizzare enough will do it.

He ended up passing shortly after I read Blood Meridian, funny timing on my part 😔 God rest his soul.
Hoo wee I heard there have been quite a few tries but I didn't realize there were a grand total of 26 attempts lol, epic. Maybe someday! Personally, I demand it has a John Carpenter style deep droning synth soundtrack, or a mix of that and western music.

Yeah... I only learned almost a week ago....
Indeed (I think Ridley Scott's amongst them) Same, I hope it's someone who can actually do it right and not simply just take the novel and film it (Not like I would directic it....;)) I disagree, I think what made the film version of NCFOM so eerie yet incredible was how realistic it felt (They used NO music other than in-world music, as in music which the character can hear as well) so if I had to pick, I'd go no soundtrack, only in-world music and a single western/haunting score for credits.
