Honestly, Valentines day isn't a day for couples. It's a day to show your friend and family that you love them. If you have someone that you can call your own to share it with? Great! Do that. But if you don't, spend it with your friends that don't have anyone to spend it with either. Instead of just being lonesome and depressed about it, make something of it and spend the day making yourself happy and others happy. Life is too short to be depressed about being single.
Haha, well that's the thing; I don't really have other people to spend my Valentine's with. Generally, V-Day's never bothered me before, even when being single, but this year it just seems so...empty. The family well...I'm not going into that and all of my friends are paired up and thus too busy to spend the day with me :x

I feel for you on this piece, Pudgey. This is my first year NOT being single on V-Day (though I'm being optimistic here - with my luck, stuff could easily happen by then), and I've always been surrounded by people who have been taken around this day. Much heartbreak for me on V-day...I hope yours doesn't turn out bad =(.
the trick to being single on Valentine's Day is to overdose on chocolate and/or cake. it does a remarkable job of helping you not pay attention to being lonely. Last Valentine's Day put me into a brief strawberry shortcake coma

Hun, don't you go worrying about Valentine's day. First of all, it's one of them Catholic coated holidays. The original holiday was called [Lupercalia] and was changed by the church because, well, they didn't like it but knew they had to mask it s on one would celebrate that day for what it really was (like Christmas). Secondly, just think of it as Candy Day, where you're able to buy lots of candy (especially after the holiday so they go on sale!), and just fatten up on chocolates. I've always hated that holiday, not for the whole "oh noes, I'm alone" either. Didn't matter when I was alone or with anyone, I hated the whole "love the person you love on this day". The fuck? Just ONE DAY OF THE YEAR? That's not love. When you love someone, you love them every day, not condense it into one single moment of the year. And it just sickens me when people are like "oh, let's get married on Valentines, it's so romantic..." NO IT ISN'T URGH. Pick a date that has REAL MEANING, not some crappy "holiday".
I can't help but rage when I see a holiday re-write say there is only ONE day of the year to love someone, and then see droves of people actually think that. It just sickens me to see people honestly believe there is only one day of an entire year to show love an affection to someone you're with. Christ I'm surprised getting married on Valentine's hasn't beaten out being married in June yet!
