ESPAÑOL:
El primer cómic que hice ´´Smoke and Rain´´ comenzó con un concepto tan simple
que ni siquiera se suponía que tuviera más de diez páginas.
Pero viendo que la gente que leía cada página semana tras semana estaba ansiosa
para leer una buena historia ahí, inmediatamente comencé a escribir una historia más larga
basado en lo poco que se había planteado al comienzo del cómic.
Pasó el tiempo y viendo el interés que la gente estaba teniendo en esa historia
y al ver que les estaba gustando me llenó de inspiración y comencé
a escribir más historias, de todo tipo para hacer más cómics o novelas gráficas en el futuro.
Pero como todos, no soy perfecto y si los lectores me hicieron notar algo,
es la cantidad de errores gramaticales que cometo cuando escribo diálogos en inglés.
Mi primer idioma es el español, pero llevo muchos años aprendiendo inglés,
y aun así, mi inglés no es natural para las personas de habla inglesa.
A veces me sentía muy frustrado por no saber exactamente cómo debía
articular las oraciones ya que como no vivo en un país donde se hable inglés,
no tenía forma de saber si lo que escribía se entendería correctamente o no.
Pero lejos de desanimarme, esto me inspiró aún más,
así que decidí tomar el reto de hacer una historia cuyo tema principal
era la diferencia de lenguaje entre los personajes.
Así que tomé una pequeña historia de dos personajes que ya tenía a medio escribir.
y le agregué este tema dando como resultado este cómic.
Este proyecto me ha hecho aprender mucho y ver las cosas de una manera muy diferente.
Y es por eso que quiero dar créditos especiales y gracias.
a Nrimbxw y Domus Vocis que han sido mis asesores lingüísticos
para captar la importancia del diálogo en esta historia.
Este proyecto no hubiera sido posible sin ellos.
También hay que aclarar que este es un mundo ficticio y los nombres
tanto de los lugares como de las fechas son diferentes,
por lo que el nombre de las lenguas, estando basado en el nombre de
la región de la que proceden, se han adaptado
a los nombres de los lugares en esta historia.
Esta historia no está enfocada en contenido explícito,
pero puede haber algún momento en que la trama lo exija.
Es por eso que este cómic es considerado solo para adultos.

para leer una buena historia ahí, inmediatamente comencé a escribir una historia más larga

a escribir más historias, de todo tipo para hacer más cómics o novelas gráficas en el futuro.

Oooo I look forward to reading this! English is my main language, but I've traveled enough to be on the other side.... struggling to express myself in German, French or Spanish. Or just navigate without trying to speaking the local language, in places like China, Japan or Thailand.
I'm always entertained by the ability of intelligent people of goodwill to completely misunderstand each other! Even without a language barrier, my husband of 20 years and I do this! :) Sometimes a conversation just goes completely off the rails... usually it's because one of us "changed the subject" in our minds without telling the other person! If you trust the other person you learn to say "Hey back up and fill me in... what are we talking about here?"
Another problem is that it's harder to convey uncertainty or confusion in a second langauge. In a foreign language class you learn to say simple things like "The red book is on the kitchen table." But if you ask a native speaker "where did the book go?" they'll say something like "It is around here somewhere..... try the kitchen."
If it turns out to be somehwere else, things like this can be the difference between people thinking you tried to be helpful or that you tried to decieve them!
I worked at CERN for a while, many years ago. English was the official language but most of us spoke another language first. I saw so much confusion caused by people answering complex questions with their best guess, but saying it as if it was a fact.

That's right, it is a very interesting topic that is in our lives, much more than we realize.
I think maybe people should talk about it more.
That would make a society more willing to understand than to misinterpret and offend based on it.
Sometimes people don't want to offend others, but they don't know how to express themselves and they end up sounding offensive, and the other people don't try to understand what is happening, they just jump to a conclusion and get offended and it creates a bigger problem than what it is ought.
I think maybe people should talk about it more.

I've learned to assume people are missing information before I conclude they are not thinking clearly. Then I'll assume they made a mistake in their thinking before I conclude they are deliberately being unpleasant.
It gives people 2 chances to to fix what they said. Plus, every once in a while I discover I am the one who was missing information or not thinking clearly.
I don't know how it is in your country, but it is very easy to spot an American who has never traveled! If they say something that an immigrant or visitor doesn't understand they will try to 'fix' the problem by repeating themselves. They say the exact same thing just slower and louder! Sometimes they'll do it 2 or 3 times.
A traveler, of course, would know to add more information or try to say it in another way to get the point across.

I agree with you, it is always better to seek clarification before jumping to conclusions and it is better to give two chances.
I have seen many English-speaking tourists do what you mention,
but I have seen that people from my country do more mimicry to make themselves understood than repeating the same words louder X3
