When I was a teenager, I saw an advertisement for the Ovation Breadwinner. It took nearly 40 years, but I finally got one. It was fun setting up this shot at night in front of my house.
If you look through my gallery, it is apparent that I like shooting closeups of musical instruments. But for my second book of guitar photos, I decided to get them out “in the wild” for for some full-body photos.

That body shape is really very comfortable. The pickups are active single coils. The higher-end Deacon and then the later Breadwinners were fitted with humbuckers. The circuitry is wild too with the pickup switch positions being neck, bridge, or both out-of-phase.

Great use of light and shadow in this one...very nice!
Ovations are unique the way Rickenbackers are; no else else makes anything that even looks like them. I've always associated the Ovation solidbodies like this one with the great multi-instrumentalist Roy Clark.
