"What we have here?...you died hugging something, first let's see if you are boobytraped or even worse, cursed...hmm ok you seem clean, lets see what you have in your arms, hmm its a book perhaps a diary or a religious text? ooooh no you was an artist! your book is full of scribles...hmmm the first dozen pages are kinda lame but you progressed a lot! not just that but you was sort of an all rounder, I see you tried your skills with architecture, machinery and even animal drawings...I bet most of these creatures are totally extinct, these plants too, surely they are totally toast at this point, perhaps Doctor Kalgory or Gahriom had seem them in the old world.
Ooh wait our little artist was a horny! I see you had quite a passion for bondage, a little bit bland but I respect it...oh wait that's a dog fucking a pregnant amputee, hahaha you were spicy! I dont know how your culture was but I bet this was taboo...oh look at this you was a big fan of pregnancy like me, pages upon pages of gorgeous well designed bellies, sir you have my respect!...I mean sorry, you was a sir a lady or in between like me?...hahaha just kiding, what kind of pedantic loser cares about the sex of a long dead pile of bones!? probably you dont care too since you already gone...You started some pretty drawings here...sadly you will never finish them...
How was your life like? did you had friends? your family liked your art? how did you died? I wish I could ressurect you and ask, but your essence already vanished, sorry...I bet this book was really precious for you since you held so tightly it in your dying moment, and its a miracle it survived, this place was probably buried and tight sealed until recently...pretty lucky of you, a ordinary looter would burn it without thinking twice, but I know the true value of this, your horny scribbles are probably way older than the Great Shattering, your now open tomb was probably sealed for millennia...listen I wish I could take them with me and guard them, but this is a new world now pal, its survival of the fastest for us, hoarding heavy books is not exactly a bright idea...to leave it here is a also a bad idea because the harsh wheater exposure will your ruin your work...this is your legacy and people need to see it, we are going to a massive oasis city next month, so I will take it and sell it to the tech hunters, they are keen in preserving all sorts of historical documents, registry and stuff so your book will sell for a good price! I get a hefty money and you get your work preserved for the next centuries! what do you think?....ha I knew you would like that!...also I'm going to take your skull so you can travel with us, you will love our sandship!" This drawing was in my mind for a quite a while, the idea behind came after I began to clean my watchlist on Deviantart and now here, There's a lot of artists I stopped following because they changed the focus of their work too much, or worse changed nothing, I don't mean it in a offensive or arrogant way, I know my art evolves (relatively) a lot because I have time resources and support to invest on it and sadly not everyone has the same opportunity, but I feel really bad when I see an artist that is stuck in time, their art evolved nothing in several years they keep churning the same formula poses themes and errors over and over again for years, stagnation disturbs me deeply.
Another thing that gives me some creeps are dead galleries, artists that vanished one day without any warning, I know alot went to twitter (sadly) but many straight up stop posting, sometimes they stop posting years go but still active faving stuff and commenting...but others are just completely gone, they give me the exact feeling of this pic, me finding the art book near a corpse, the art may be cool but this is it there will be no new stuff....I'm finding many of these recently.
What called my attention is that a lot of them vanished around 2019 to 2022, I don't doubt it may be related to covid, the majority of furries are american and usa had the biggest ammount of covid deaths by a loooong shot (I WONDER WHY) so is not far fetch to imagine that many of these artists got clapped by corona and their families had no idea they posted funny animals in a weird site...I fear this sometimes, die randomly of something stupid and just vanishing...but look, if this happens another artist can draw their fursona taking the art book from a gold skeleton in the ground so the circle of life continues! XD

A very interesting pic, and concept. It is a bit grim, yes, but also kind of inspiring. I love the though of an artist's identity and life extending past their death through their artwork, something as simple as drawings telling the story of a person. Their skills, tastes and passions all captured into their art to be expressed to others even after death and far into the future.
I for one have no objections to being remembered as an artist of the thicc and pregnant long after I'm gone hahah
