Vortoxians were to Fission Chicken what Skrulls were to the Fantastic Four.

Basically, an alien race with a Ferengi-like drive for acquisition, but bent on brainwashing free will out of other planets in order to do it.

For a cliff notes on the vortoxans, you might want to rent "They Live" with Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Considering when that movie came out after the first Vortoxxan stories were published in "Critters", I have the sneaking suspicion one of the writers read "Fission Chicken"...
