That's a fun thing, because my main design rule on these was "Let's try to do fantasy but not JRPG looking"

I guess it's more difficult than expected XD

They have set the standard for fantasy so to come out with something new and totally original will be complex but I believe in you, it does look great though it was more the weapon and open large scenery that drew the connection for me.

yes, I still have to find a way to make the weapons more interesting

I have no idea, this is coming out of a frustration I have with things being all too Japanese all the time, so I decided to mix stuff around. I didn't plan on Arabian, so I'm surprised you see some in it XD

I think it's the shorter guy's garments. it sorta implies Arabian, maybe Egyptian.

It does look really nice, but IMO you can't see too much of the smaller guy's clothes..
I think the huge/tiny guy and the huge weapon thing sorta already fall into that..

On the other hand.. it does look like it can break away from the JRPG with how things are carried out.. Just avoid the "multiple flailing limbs", "cry me a river" and huge eyes and you're already on your way :P

I like the scenery and the characters, but the oversize halberd thing seems out of place :( especially if you are trying to avoid jrpg 'its a 20 foot sword o hai guys!'

also, autochthons evoke a more primitive style of weaponry to me. doesn't mean they were less dangerous, but I'd expect something more like obsidian studded clubs.

also lol cute bunny shoulder armour and size difference between duncan and the badgery guy.

Well, the reason why I named these things Autochthon is because I wanted to do some fantasy design games with less foreign influences (mostly the japanese trend) so basically it's a mix of medieval and precolumbinan. I still have to find the right mix for the weapons.
