Wanted to get one last (technically) mermay drawing in. This was just a simple one, but it was me returning for the first time in ages to trying to draw myself in the disney mer style. It was where I originally started in all of this - found a Disney drawing book one summer around junior high, and started trying to draw Ariel. Then just happened to feel like drawing myself as a merman. : )

While my early effort were pretty spotty, and mostly just tracing, I feel like here I have a good milestone as I work to get better at this style. I've been looking heavily at the work in the original design for Ariel, and have used principles behind it to come up with some ideas for my own mersona design.

All in all, this was a good mermay. I set up commissions for the first time, got way more art done, continued to grow r/merfolk, and have got an awesome discord server that's continuing to grow. We're also going to be launching a merfolk-centric modded minecraft server soon, so check that out!

After mermay, I honestly need a break. I have a mer drawing or two I'm going to get done, and then take a rest for a bit. I'm not necessarily going to be taking a break from art in general, but I will from merfolk art (this is of course, excluding any commissions I may receive).
