Simba thinks he's all that with that tail [$70 commission]
Cell-shaded commission for
StuffAgain on FA as a sequel / Alternate Ending to his The Lion King* tail TF series: No Horsing Around.
(* I refuse to call it TiLK!)
Although, in StuffAgain's AU, these transformations do get Simba into trouble, he secretly likes it, and strides around the savannah with it.
The background is gradient-shaded at my suggestion, and is the path to The Water Hole seen in the movie before "I just can't wait to be King". Simba bares his claws a little inspired by "Circle of life" where they come out as he reaches for Rafiki's staff.
Perhaps the greatest challenge here was to understand how the Disney animators shaded Simba: rather than have one color for light and one color for dark, they appear to have a color for "shading" (3D-ness) and a color for "shadow" (cast by another part of the body). It's very subtle, but if you zoom into his right hind leg you might be able to see it.
This is also a good example of how my pricing structure works. In this piece we have:
• $40: One cell shaded character (Simba)
• $ 5: One complexity element (horse tail hair is a radically different texture from lion cub fur)
• $25: A gradient-shaded background composed of a single object (the wall of tall grass - you can't have grass without dirt for it to grow out of so I didn't count the dirt separate)
$70 total
If you want one like this, I'm still open for commissions!
