Here is a fun Sketch I did for Bobcat at FC. If you see him at a show, you will know him by that hat. His character is striking and it was great to do him in an IPad color sketch. I really liked doing that bag of swag in the background. However it brings up the question--what is in that bag of swag?

That's quite the tail! Thankfully with those spots and those ears, fellow lynxen won't be too focused on that! I can tell you had fun sketching this. Can it really be called a sketch? It looks very complete to me with those sharp clear lines and vivid colours!
A dark background might make that green stand out even more! It might be interesting to try and find/create a more 'natural' background to sketch on top of, something beige/papery. I don't know all this fancy technology in terms of what they'll allow, but it's just a thought. :)

Thanks Shade. As usual, you bring up an interesting point. I am still finding out what I can do with ye old magic IPad, and the more I try the more I discover. The short answer to the question is, more than I thought. I am pleasantly surprised with how much I can do with the device.
Your comment on the background is apt. It is actually the lack of background that helps me put this into the sketch category. I can do a background on IPad pieces, but then it's a full commission and I charge more.

Oh, I'm sure you can do a beautiful background, no doubt about it! But it's pretty nice to have a default toned canvas to draw on. At least, I think so. Paper has a lot of natural colour diversity (typically in subtle form) and makes it a lot more pleasant for the eyes than the all white when you're not going to draw any background. I just got my first tablet and I'm constantly reminding myself of this. I'm going to try to follow my own advice here at least and experiment with drawing/scanning things until I get a nice selection of starting 'digital paper'. ;)
As for the iPad, I find it reassuring that you can do so much with it somehow, not so much because of technological possibilities, but rather how you can quickly adapt in your artistic versatilities rather than get stuck on how different it is.
Just something I think is impressive, you might think it only normal. *Laughs.*
