Now, how about a dragon playing an instrument I actually play! The piccolo, the most hyper instrument of the band/orchestra! I actually play flute, but that's such a quiet, demure instrument... the piccolo has personality.
This image dates from summer 2006, back when I was fond of that bug-eyed anime style. Ick. This image is notable for being the first one I was critiqued on over the internet: I posted it to a forum, expecting praise, and someone said they didn't like the background. I was afraid to post a response, but I actually took the critique... instead of the old yellow-brown strange ugly abstract thing, I brushed in some clouds and sun rays, and it came out a lot better for my having done that.
Still, I should have learned to take critique reasonably then. I'm glad I'm wiser now.

Diana started playing piccolo the year we were in Wind Ensemble together, so a mixup is possible. She never played the metal piccolo, though... that piercing little silver poking apparatus is mine and mine alone. Alright, actually, I have no idea what band there is like right now. Been a while since I graduated, after all.
Bug-eyed anime style definitely does look dorky. I still do the cheekmouth thing for easy expressions, but at least I try to think of the head as a 3D object now.
