It's nine AM. You slammed down a double-shot espresso concoction from the local coffee shop before slinking your way through the labyrinth that is your downtown high-rise office. You were told you had a meeting with a potential client. The details are a little fuzzy in your head, since you're currently running off of five hours of sleep. An important report for middle management was to blame for that.
Whatever the case, you have new, more important things to worry about now. You haven't really been briefed too much on who or what this meeting was about. From what your boss told you, it was some biotech firm looking to diversify their investments portfolio. You were hoping for more to follow in today's meeting while meeting with the client. Exciting stuff - it's not every day a tech firm comes up to the firm. You meet with your boss and are told the client's already in the conference room. Fantastic. You march up to the room, pull open the door, and enter. To say your new prospective investor made a big impression was a bit... on the nose. For one, you had to tilt your head way back to see their face. And that she wasn't entirely... human. Indeed, she looked more like a dragon, with wings and tail to boot. The icing on the cake was the dress she wore - 'business casual', with a slight emphasis on 'casual'. Neither you nor your boss were about to point that out.
She introduces herself as the one in charge of the firm, and your boss begins the presentation. You can't tell if you're more mesmerized by her statuesque appearance or the content of the presentation itself, but you use it as motivation to power through. Professional, knowledgeable, and powerful - all wrapped in a slick package that gave a very firm vision of someone with influence. At the end, she nods, impressed, and begins to fill out a form. Half an hour later, she hands you the papers. Half a billion dollars.
You'll be dreaming about her for weeks... not like it's a bad thing...
It's one thing for Jaanada to seek funding for her own scientific endeavors, but it's another thing entirely for her to return the favor. Granted, she'd rather be in a lab working on evolutionary theory, but she also wants to not worry about money, whether it's selling assets to those with money or buying assets to generate a steadier income stream. Because sometimes, businesses will happily buy or sell things for goods and services, and not just give them under threat of total destruction. There's a time and place for everything.
Your offices will live... for now :P
