Playing D&D soon and wanted to draw an art piece for what my character would look like. His design might go through evolution in the future, but for now he is as seen.
Eros' attacks will all be based on what plants he crushes in his hands. He has a clockwork glove with rotating sigils that form a transmutation circle (will be prominant in later designs) that converts the herbs Full Metal Alchemist style into whatever spells he can create with them.
I took Eros from a 1 shot I did over a year ago. He used to be an Artificer Artillerist (which I plan to revisit (and that includes the art too, jesus christ it was bad)) and adapted him to fill in a more supportive role. Not the same Eros as from the 1 shot, D&D's lore is that different games are different versions of the multiverse that makes up D&D (if the DM wants to run with that idea, lines can blur where they want as they're the ultimate god afterall) but Eros if he chose a different path in a different time.
I wrote up some lore so gonna dump it below. Thank you for viewing my art piece!
Eros Featherwind spends his time amongst nature. He owns a workshop that is half exposed to the surroundings around him, which he uses to brew concoctions, tinker with inventions and practice combining the two with his newfound interest of Alchemy. His studies into flora and fauna in his free time led him to pursue a career in science and his father's bookstore allowed him all the research material he could ever need to master his craft in herbal remedies.
At least, he thought he had mastered his craft. A lone, ill traveller arrived on a boat not too long ago and was rushed into their local academy, the Astro Potentia, for emergency care (but also for study). The illness was new, and unknown variable that eluded many of the various students and professors who attended the academy.
The section of the academy they had taken this stranger was quarantined. Nobody could figure out the cure for the illness, and identifying such a thing proved to be a challenge. Numorous researchers fell ill to the same disease they had tried to cure, one of which being a close friend and colleague of Eros, a fellow kenku called Rein.
In his dying moments, Rein wrote a letter to Eros which described the events that had led to their current predicament.
Shortly following this letter, Eros was called to the Astro Potentia for a meeting with the headmaster. He was to be sent overseas in search of answers, in the rough direction of where they had seen the stranger arrive from.
With passion burning in his eyes, he returned to his workshop, grabbed his gear and set off to the docks to venture to a land afar
How his casting works!
Eros doesn't cast spells. Instead he crushes herbs between his hands and uses the elements and magics that make them up to produce the desired effects, which are very similar to conventional magics
- This explains how he casts
Still magic, just more science. His glove contains a clockwork plate that changes the symbols on his hand, allowing for different effects to be produced:
- This is how he gets different spells
The glove slowly absorbs magical energy in the air to power itself. This energy is what changes the herbs to his will:
- This explains why he still has spell slots
More tools and power is needed for concoctions to become stable enough to last a long amount of time:
- This explains why his potions don't last a long time
- Explains why he can't just create healing potions immediately
