Dark Eco is the instant-death hazard of Jak & Daxter : The Precursor Legacy
It is implied what happened to Daxter happens to Jak (after black cut-out) from jumping into the stuff as it's in its most raw unstable form in the first game.
Dark Eco corrupts, and destroys, indiscriminately, can turn things evil, or into an ottsel: An hybrid mix of Otter and Weasel.
Dark Eco's opposites are White Eco, representing light. And Green eco, representing life and revitalization.
Red eco enhances strength, and represents enpowerment.
Green Eco represents life, and vitality.
Yellow Eco represents justice, and the ability to fire it like a bullet.
Blue eco haste, and electricity, allowing for you to sprint and power ancient devices.
Light eco the presence of light.
And finally
Dark Eco; the absence and absorption of light.
In the first game, Dark Eco is the only known eco in the game to have several forms: Crystals, Liquid, and Globules, and is the only natural eco in the game to have natural ponds of itself.
