A brilliant crystalline light filtered through hundreds of seemingly weightless and lustrous cargo craft. If you step outside, the noise is a cacophonous blend of sirens, air traffic, and the droning basso of the huge ships above. Inside the causeways, the air is always chilled and dry with a silence so thorough you can hear every footstep save those awesome moments when a capital ship clears the bridge by mere meters on its way in or out.
Station 5 is the second largest of an array of ground based spaceports and is one of three that accept capital ships (the largest being out over the water quite near here actually). Its myriad ramps and causeways have become part of a social trend towards port spaces as places of public gathering. Quite near the interuniversal center, federal district, and, of course the lake, S5 is just as glimmering and beautiful as nearby downtown. I should mention that ground sector indicates the level at which structures are directly connected to the ground.
I’m usually here twice a week when I visit the office. My friend Jasik always knows when I’m around because he has access to the network within the confines of the station. He may drive some of the slowest craft on the planet, but keep in mind his job is to tow some of the largest ships that ever enter our atmosphere. Speaking of jobs, see that police craft outside the window? Those are actually federal craft specifically designed to protect the cargo transfers from piracy; I actually have a good friend who’s a meerfox in that occupation. I love how cute and fuzzy he is despite the startling firepower he gets to wield everyday. If you have any more questions feel free to ask of course.

Dang man, thats incredible, just the fact the background actually has a lot of work done to it. Too many people are lazy and just blur a photo for a background, but you went all out here.
Seriously great work, along with the character interaction, everyone looks like they belong. I see no real errors either, the perspective is spot on.
Good job man, it payed off.

The base PSD file and its corresponding TIFF are 1737 x 1243 (which should be 8.5" x 11" at 150 DPI), so yeah, I guess it is bigger. Selling stuff has long been an issue for me as I produce quality work yet never have the energy nor time to organize something. How does one use paypal to get payed? I'd charge cheap for the full size image.
Well, the simplest method is just to say "send X amount via paypal to this address (foxer421@gotfoxiefeets.org, for example), and upon receipt, I will e-mail you the bg or pic, or whatever. The person paying (who doesn't actually need to have paypal, iirc) puts in that e-mail address, and it automatically directs the payment to the account it is registered to.
If I mis-read that question... and shot wide, feel free to come after me with something... not... too painfully heavy, or burninating >_>;;
You *could* be an advanced person and set up a paypal store ... which automatically sends out the purchased "product"... however, to be honest I don't have the first clue of how that works.
But, yeah... there just isn't enough furry+space stuff out there. Well, not that is *well* drawn anyway. This image would SO become the new background for my lappy.

Data and object retrieval scouts; their colorful rings contain their owner's livery. Here, blue represents the spaceport authority. If one were to sell them, the color ring would just be replaced. Need a datacube or a foreign wrench you forgot for that damn visiting cargo ship? Call up a "dorscout"!
After so long and seeing this from very early on to completion, this is a truly amazing piece Jon. The level of detail that you put into this is absolutely spectacular. The background is very, very well done, blending your cityscapes from your other works and really showing how busy this hub is. The ships, the intricate and complex feeling of life that this work brings is awesome. It truly feels to be a snapshot of life at Station5. The character design is great, as always, and I have to say that I really like how Jasik looks. (You go without saying ;)) The details on everything from the background, the ships, the information, the characters ... This is really a work of art, bringing complexity not often seen here and leaving the viewer breathless as they try and take it all in at the first glance.
*hugs* Absolutely amazing work Jon. =^-^=

glad to hear it! ;) I've got a list:
1.) I wanna see the Meerfox ^_^
2.) I'd pay a couple bucks for a full-res. wallpaper if you get a PayPal account (but how to let people know? - maybe just edit the comment on the pic and tack on something at the bottom about it?
3.) Only cool people like you and I spell our name without an "h" ;)

This is one busy piece! I love how it evokes the feeling of grand technological and social advancement that is commonly seen on old science-fiction novel covers, like Asimov's Foundation novels. Gives me a thrill just thinking about it. This is beyond awesome, this is glorious , yet still fun.
I think one of the reasons that I like your art so much, is the fact that you've embraced a very space-oriented sci-fi style. It's easy to look at pictures such as this and "Connection" and let your mind run wild, filling in the blanks about the general world around the characters. The little background blurb that you write about the pictures generally helps to make the scene come alive, putting a little bit of personality into what would otherwise be two-dimensional characters.
Have you ever considered doing a comic, or writing science fiction (furry or non)? You certainly have the writing talent and imagination to make a great piece of literature. Combine that with the artwork, and you're well on your way to creating a comic that folks would be proud to own (not to mention bringing in a little bit of spending money for your efforts).
Not too many folks are able to capture this sort of sci-fi setting properly, both in art and in writing; you should definately stick with it! Oh, and the sunglasses / HUD that your character is wearing is incredibly neat.
