There are plenty other object and food-based creatures in the world, but most don't have the pleasure of regrowing or replacing lost parts, and it's extremely rare to magically reappear. Sou is one of those few who can simply replace her own parts as she needs and even maintain what parts she already has. She also has the ability to choose what piece of connected bread is the most vital.
She's found herself a look she likes and can very easily bake herself at home. Her body is mostly made of Pumpernickle and Ciabatta, but some parts, need special attention, like using pretzels for fingers or making her muzzle made of maluable milk bread, and taking care to ferment her legs and heavily toast her feet to withstand the elements. She also has a Magical Leaf on her head that can store extra bread in those emergency cases where an arm gets taken by an animal or the bottom of her feet are too worn down. It's mostly baguettes and pretzel bites. Thankfully, she doesn't feel pain when eaten, but having her bread taken or eaten does cause some anxiety.
Some LOOOORE:
There was a time where food-based creatures were rare to see since most were eaten by other creatures soon after birth/hatching, leaving only the rare few that could completely reappear or those made or born with a much higher intelligence. Those born to wild animals didn't have much chance, but human-anthro types were far more likely to raise them. Most werefood didn't live very long in the days leading up to the Standstill since food was heavily coveted, and unless you were made of something easy to grow, make, find, or you could regrow or reappear, you were usually eaten. Depending on how cooperative the werefood creatures were, they were either eaten first to avoid losing a source of food, or eaten last as food levels were low. Nowadays food isn't an issue for human-anthro types, so werefoods are sticking around, and we know enough about the magic behind them that they tend to live extremely long lives.
