wut..... yeah this is pretty much how I'll draw the gremlin skylander spyro. WHO WANTS TO PLAY DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS!!
Seriously though it looks like it, and i watched a video on how they even did it, like set the character on the pad thing and it appears on screen o.o >> I don't think i'll be buying little figurines just to play this game XD; sure it might be cool and all but it can also be a dumb idea, I don't know. Reboots suck, there you go. - but sometimes not, but what takes the cake for me, is still Devil May Cry 5, (Infamous 2 has been taken care of, though his voice still bothers me somehow) it's so not Dante AT ALL No features or personality like the real Dante, but this here is spyro, he's still purple, and has the same features and all, the only thing that might disgust you is his ugly looking face! and or style. (which is kinda growing on me, zip it.) besides that point, this is just a doodle of the little bugger I done completely in Paint tool SAI.

I googled this game... Activision completely ruined my childhood. He looks NOTHING like Spyro anymore. I mean the Cynder game was bad enough with the South-Park-Canadian head but come the fuck on.

Yeah, I'm still upset about DMC5 too..., but I heard that this Dante is actually the SAME Dante we all know and love, but his Devil blood in him hasn't awaken yet, which explains no white hair and stuff. We can only hope that it's a decent game with as least good story, music, game-play, and etc.
Wow.. he looks like a vampire
But yeah I'm in agreement with the others. I actually love the LoS trilogy mostly because it had a plotline and good design too. This is pretty much killed Spyro altogether. But I won't really go on about that as I'll be here all day >.>

Now, I'm generally frogiving when games make mistakes. When they rebooted the Spyro series the first time I still found it playable. Sure it wasn't the Spyro I knew but I accepted the fact that what is done is done and I might as well enjoy it but upon seeing what they did whit him I can say that my childhood has officially been raped.
i think i'm one of the very few mature commenters here who actually have something positive to say.
seriously, the immature idiots who keep on moaning about how the new spyro sucks are seriously getting on my nerves... anyways...
i like the new design of the new game. he looks much more threatening, sure, but then again... he is a dragon, you know? aren't dragons supposed to look a bit threatening/intimidating? at least all the other dragons in all the other video games i played did... and even whatever dragons appeared in movies, like Draco from Dragonheart, were looking kind of threatening.
plus... i really don't get what people are so fired up about in the first place. sure, its not the original spyro. but guess what? the original spyro was an overly cartoony abomination. at least in the LoS trilogy he started to look more like an actual living creature instead of an abstract, cartoony construct. now this... this is much more what an actual living dragon would look like.
still, i have serious doubts about this new game. it pretty much sounds like a good old whoring out for money to me. you'll need to collect actual toys to play the game, which seems to be exclusive for Wii at first glance and from what little information i could gather, it all looks like a big online experience. buy the toys for all the characters, then play online or something like that *shrugs*
at least the concept didn't strike me as though it had an actual plot attached to it, let alone much in the field of singleplayers... which sucks... big time...
it all looks as though it'll just be a huge experiment in online gaming that requires you to buy actual different toys to fully play, without much in the department of singleplayer gameplay.
but i do have to admit that in the end, there is still little information available and i could be wrong... actually, i am kind of hoping i'm wrong. i want to play a game with a singleplayer campaign and available for my PS3...

THANK YOU!!! it just upsets me how everyone forgets WHY we love Spyro in the first place. NOT for the action platforming that was LoS but the awesomely fun adventure game that was the original. Collecting items, exploring different worlds, getting 100% on each world it was endless fun with tones of re-playability despite its target audience. I for one am glad they are trying to bring that back, but as the trailer shows it looks aimed at an even younger audience than the original, and the toys are a bit much.
i'd prefer to have an actual action platformer again with a tad better storyline than LoS had and have that paired up with some more freedom in levels. one my most favorite, most cherished trilogy of games is the Sly Cooper trilogy for PS2 which, in case you didn't play it yourself, is about a racoon thief, Sly Cooper, and his band of thieves. the first one is just your standard level to level platformer with a similiar standard/basic plot... but Sly 2 and Sly 3... oooh boy... they are pretty close to being sandbox games. you had huge areas, like the cities of Paris or Venice, where you could freely move around, explore, collect items and pick various fun missions with a pretty good plot and storyline. i'd love to see something like that for Spyro too because... the Sly trilogy proved it can be done, it can work and it can be both, be a lot of fun and plain awesome.
but... yeah... target audience 8 - 12 i think i read somewhere... that is some bad foreshadowing there, which is why i am really afraid for this game to be an online experience with actual toys you collected... i don't even wanna know what kind of stuff you get to do in this online experience. MMORPG's like WoW can be repetetive enough, but at least they feature some cool, innovative stuff every once in a while and adventures with actual plots... seems the new Spyro game won't have anything.
lets face it, be serious and for real... the year is 2011. the golden days of the NES, let alone Atari 2600, have long since passed us by and gamers of today expect me of today's games. you can only walk around and collect stuff for 100% so much, before it starts getting boring...

Doom was a really old cartoony game. But it was one of the best things to happen to most people.
The old one wasn't an "abomination". That was the style of the last centurary plus, you can't make uber-looking games on a PlayStation 1. I get the impression that you think awesomesauce graphics make a good game.
Grab an emulator, stick in a bit of Spyro or Crash classic (try Ape Escape bro) and enjoy the feel of the 90's.

...and in many cases, the style of the last century simply sucked balls. it did spawn "artists" like Rob Leifeld, among others, after all...
and if you get the impression that i think that awesomesauce graphics make for a good game, you clearly haven't read my comment correctly. i didn't say that the original Spyro games were bad and how you seemed to have gotten that impression is beyond me.
i was talking art and character design for the most part and i stick to what i said. to me, Spyro's character design of the first couple games look like extremely cartoony abominations, while the TLoS and the new Skylanders character design of Spyro look more realistic, intimidating and basecally look much more what a living breathing dragon should look like. this guy, you can be afraif off. the original spyro, frankly, you can't. that's basecally my point here.

you do realise that DMC 3 happens way before DMC 1, right? and my guess is that DMC 5 will take place way before DMC 3, making it the earliest game in the DMC series.
what, you think Dante had his white hair, weapons and all his powers from birth on? :-P
i think DMC 5 will be about how Dante actually got his weapons and how his powers awaken.

In fact no weapons and his suit, but believed that the white hair if I never play DMC1, only 3 and 4 and I never found out that 3 was a prequel XD (strange my play 2), but still there are 2 things that do not fit, a Dante does not smoke (at least not in the DMC 3, 4 and Devil May Cry series) and 2 team ninja theory (developed further) have only said that "only a change of clothes" in order I think you just have to wait for another Trailer or capcom released more information XP. jajaja.
agreed everyone need to rise up and kick Capcom in the ass for the new Dante, hes such a big icon and for them to change him so drastically its unforgivable, I mean what if Nintendo took away Mario's mustache and hat!?! just NO! and yeah the new Spyro does look childish, a little TOO childish, and the toys are a bad idea X3 its likr the game is being promoted by Cap'n Crunch X3
at least that is what i am thinking and there are rumors that this is true
well... its just rumors though, but truth to be told, it would make sense.
i'd still prefer a sequel though... either remove the shameful DMC 2 from canon by making an alternate, better game with better story or make a better game with better story set post DMC 2 dealing with Dante's escape from the demon world.

I still plan on getting the game, this new look doesn't really bother me. I'm pretty sure when L.o.S. was announced and everyone saw his new look there quite afew "that's not Spyro"s and "they've ruined him"s but guess what, people got use to the new look. So this is really no different than the first time they changed his look, gamers will complain but in the end they'll get use to it and move on.
the 'new spryo' from TLoS wasnot as drastically changed as this one is! the only drastic change was him going from child to teen in DotD. but this...this just looks like the destroyer ate him, chewed him up, spit burning lava onto him, tried to mold him together, spit him out, then fused him with a frog-thing. this is like the person making it WANTS to ruin Spyro.
actually the changes to the original Spyro were just as drastic. Spyro was originally all cartoony-ish and adstract, LoS came in, took Spyro and had made him look more realistic-ish and menacing. Granted Spyro only looks menacing when mad but my point still remains.
Ok, so what? He still looks like Spyro, people who have not heard of the new game can look at the screenshot and say "That looks like Spyro". If people can still recognise him then that means the change is nowhere near as bad as people, like you and others here, make it out to be.
And yet just about everyone recognises him as Spyro. Even though they don't like the new look they still admit who he is.
And since I know you are not really reading what I'm saying and will continue to cry with "That's not how Spyro is suppose to look!" "They completely changed him!" and things like that instead of attempting to make a valid point.
Instead of continuing our conversation as we have been I am instead going to help you coupe with this "Travesty" to Spyro.
Just say this next time you see the new Spyro "Yes that is Spyro but that isn't THE Spyro. He is just a different Spyro from a paralell universe, which explains why he looks so different. It makes perfect sense now, similar to how DC Comics have all sorts of different versionsvof their heroes/villains."
Hopefully saying that will put your mind at ease. Also please do not bother replying, I am done with this conversation and just ignore the comment.

At least you're take on it looks far better than the actual thing XD I mean when I saw a small image of it I swear it looked like Spyro found some Gecko/Frog critter and took it as his own to have this funky little gremlin frog... thing as a child XD
I prefer the old Spyro <3< And not this... THING! XD

The picture looks a lot better than the figurine, imo. I went and found a review - the photograph of the figuring honestly reminded me of a purple, long-legged toad with wings. What scares me the most is that the game is both intriguing and disappointing at the same time.
as i am entitled to an opinion, and to prevent being nudged about it, personally i don't like the design of the new spyro at all, however, i hope the new game will be brilliant. As for your artwork Shalonesk, you made a great job keeping the old Spyro spirit~ Perhaps not the feed me part, but general looks ^.-.^
Thank you for sharing it

I suppose I'm a bit torn. I like that idea of Spyro being more of a monstery kind of character, but when I compare it to the old styles/LoS style, I'm not so sure I like it.
Companies have tried games like this before, using toy codes etc to make kids force their parents to buy both things (Toys and game) It's a marketing ploy to make money, and unfortunately for them, this idea has never really worked in the past... :\

I know I don't want Spyro to be like every other dragon in every other video game or movie, that's part of what made him special to begin with. Spyro was unique, he had a personality we could identify, head strong, arrogant, curious, energetic. The LoS series redefined his personality somewhat, making him more of a "hero" kind of character, but it was easy to imagine with the new LoS style that he had simply grown up some.
Kinda looks like a purple Pug with horns now. In my opinion he hardly looks like a dragon at all anymore, closer to something we would encounter in the game as a generic enemy. Although, cultures depict dragons in so many different ways so it's difficult to knock them for making him look a certain way as a "dragon" I guess. However, as Spyro, a specific dragon, such a drastic change in appearance is hard to accept as a stage in his growth cycle. With that, we can only guess they don't give a shit xD. Target audience 6-12. Oh there it is lol. That little bit of information tells us everything we need to know. Now all you can do is wait for it to come out and try it with gamefly or something. Not quite sure how the toy bit will work out with that... but I wouldn't go in expecting or hoping it will be the same spyro we knew.

Oh God, here we go. I can see what they are trying to do with this new game, take spyro back to it's routes. Except after TLoS trilogy it appears to be just a sudden change in direction and possibly in the wrong way in this day and age, but I may be wrong and it may be a good choice, but still not enough to justify the toy thing about it. As for how Spyro looks I don't really mind it, kinda looks like the more cartoony style of the original Spyro, sure was liking the latest design of Spyro but wont complain. Even if this doesn't kill Spyro, as far as I know it's already killed a staple of the whole saga, no Sparx. Also no Cynder(or any other dragon at what we've seen so far) not a staple of the series I know but I was liking her and would of liked her to also of carried on with Spyro, but can't change that.
I am not too thrilled with the new design for Spyro, but the game idea intrigues me. I suppose I'll have to decide weather or not I like the game when I learn the story, and the other characters in the game.
I am hoping that they will have the older characters like Sheila the kangaroo, Bianca the Bunny, and Elora the faun.
The only thing is, they might overprice the figures you are required to buy for the game. I must say, that is quite a cleaver idea to make the figures required for the game. That is a good way to sap money from the consumers. They gotta be careful about it though, if they make it cost too much, people won't buy it.

OHH MY GOD!! I just saw the trailer for this and I think they have totally killed it. I was hoping that the next game would be in the same universe as TLOS trilogy. BUT NOOO! Those damn morons at Activison made yet another stupid decision. TLOS trilogy, I thought was very good, and Spyro's relationship with Cynder, especially in the end where she said that she loved him, was also a good change for the series. But this new game, HELL NO, FORGET IT!
Your picture is beautiful as usual, but c'mon, I feel like being leg pulled by activision. It's like they said "well we have a game to sell that will be a monument to consumism since you'll need over9000 supports to play it... among other 32 critters, let's put Spyro in it and pretend it's a new Spyro game.
We wanted epic adventures, they give us... DOTA with pokemon? I'm pretty much disappointed. That game has NOTHING to do with Spyro, they'd make a Spyro Kart game as well, okay there's Spyro but I'm not a retard fan fag, it's NOT Spyro. I loved the old games as much as I loved the legend series... this is not a reboot. Meh.

While I havent been able to play skylanders yet, I just have to say that his design did grow on me after a while! :) I love the legend designs most, however :)
I just wish people would stop going on about the original trilogy. Yes, they were great, but geez. I feel like if spyro were to fall into the right hands, then someone could do something REALLY epic with it! :)
