Holographic tech is inherently battery-wasteful because the diode only lets out a fraction of the light bouncing back and forth. Any big-window red dot that goes dim enough should be a good substitute with 50x the battery life. The AEMS and Sig 8T look pretty good as far as light transmission goes: Look at side by side comparisons to the (E)XPS3.
