Remy: they/it
Saber: he/it
Another idea for the whole “Remy’s stuck in an RPG as a chameleon thief” thing. Help I have brainrot
Tl;dr while stuck in the game Remy FURTHER swaps bodies with a horse and spends a couple years like that. Also they learn to wield a sword while stuck. Good for them

In the game, Saber has a chance encounter with a famed warrior stallion named Spitfire, and through certain circumstances, is forced into a body swap with the horse. Luckily this only lasts about a week, and after the fact, the two form a bond, resulting in Saber acquiring a mount for speedy ravel between destinations.
Remy stumbled into the same scenario, swapping bodies with Spitfire, but because they’re a huge dummy, they cause a divergence in the story, which results in them getting stuck as a horse for not a week, not a month, but two /years./
While stuck as a horse, they obviously can’t communicate with others, nor do they have much dexterity. They learn to wield a sword in their mouth (if Tales of Vesperia and Pokémon SwSh can do it, so can I dangit) and become a pretty powerful critter all on their own despite circumstances. They also end up enjoying being a horse quite a bit sometimes - not enough to want to STAY like that, but the simple pleasures of grazing and galloping are sometimes unmatched, y’know?
Mind you, lord knows how they convince Spitfire to swap back with them. I imagine he finds the life of a chameleon (or a person with fingers, at least) hard to leave.
This just kinda came out of nowhere tbh? I’ve been messing around with Twine, making an interactive story where Remy gets stuck in a video game and you gotta try to guide them back out of it. One item you can obtain is a relic that you can use on almost any other character to swap bodies with them, which sets you on a short, unique narrative path.
Remy at one point goes to a stable and I thought “well of COURSE you can swap bodies with a horse” and only intended to write a few passages. Hours later and oops! I’ve written a whole thing about Remy’s quest to slay a village-burning dragon as a horse with a sword. And an hour after THAT, oops! Now I’m sketching out a horse on my iPad.
I think the idea of an RPG where the hero’s stuck as a horse (or other animal) is fun! So I kinda leaned into it. Might end up being the most fleshed out part of the Twine tbh.
Might have also been a bit inspired by Dragon Quest VIII, how it’s got the princess who’s stuck as a horse - except replace “damsel in distress” with “former racc who thinks they’re badass (they’re not)”
(Also apologies for just uploading a bunch of sketches and ideas and concepts and whatever lately lmao unfortunately I am in Brainrot Mode)
EDIT: changed “eight months” to “two years.”
That’s a long time to be stuck as a beast of burden but it’s part of Remy’s character arc - it teaches them a lot about patience, the many facets of friendship and they gain a heightened compassion for critters - quite easy to appreciate animals when you walk a mile in their hooves. Or, a few thousand, I suppose.
This also takes up about half the time they spend in the game, totalling around four years - but when they do finally arrive back in their own world, only about a month or two of real world time has passed. Phew!

Oh that’s the movie based on The Dragon and The George, right? Haven’t seen the movie but did read the original short story as a kid and it was a HUGE inspiration and instigator for me getting into TF and body swap haha
But yeah!! I would play the heck out of that myself :O
