Yeah, you may want to strip that and try again.
I see recommendations for using Castrol Super Clean if you can find it.

looks to be a good resource.
I recommend thinning your paints a bit, and using a smaller brush if yours isn't already tiny.
Also you should probably go easy on the primer, you just want enough to cover it, but not fill in details.
